God, after all these years they still didn't do it as a single installer? Why should one bother with 8 (eight) almost identical installations instead of just one with checks for needed parts of the Chronicle?

They had a single installer initially. They purposely broke it down when they did so for all games sold in bundles.

If games in bundles are different, it's logical. In Chronicles it's just the same engine with the same bunch of files where only campaign/scenario files vary. Why one should install eight almost identical set of files?

Beats me. But the only way to get the single installer is if you manage to somehow get your hands on one that was backed up from before this change.
