Did anyone encounter this problem? HOMM3 installs and runs fine, except that I can't skip the intro movie - every time I start the game, I must endure the whole movie before I can play. I thought perhaps a firewall is blocking the game from polling keyboard, but that is not the case - I get the same behavior on a completely different computer with no firewall installed. The older versions of the game (with copy protection - that's why I bought GOG version) are able to skip intro easily.

Thiev: It should work alright. I'll update my post with path for x64 OS.

I changed the "first time" option from 1 to 0, but its still not allowing me to skip the intro and I tried it several times to see if it would work, could it be a windows 7 problem? Or is there another value along with that I need to edit on say a different option?

You exited registry before launching HOMM3, right?
Maybe Win7 doesn't allow registry changes. Did it stay '0' or changed back to '1'?
Anyway, you can also try changing 'Show Intro' to '0'
But it wasn't necessary for XP.

LOL, YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! I finally got it to work. Off of a hunch, I went ahead and changed both values to 0 and it didn't work, but then ran the game as an administrator in the compatibility settings and it skipped the intro automatically! Woot! Gonna change it to where I can view the intro optionally but still be able to skip it. If there's a faq or something include this in it for Windows 7 users with the same problem and sticky it. Now that I have it figured out it doesn't seem too hard. Thanks sooooooo much for your help man. I appreciate it. :)

Sorry, I keep forgetting to add that 'Run as admin" options in newer systems is mandatory for any changes. :P
Happy gaming :)
Thanks tons for this fix, it was driving me crazy.
hi, am having the same problem with heroes chronicles all chapters.... I just can't skip the intro.... i try the regedit thing with heroes 3 complete and it worked.... butwhen i try it with chronicles all chapters... there is no "first time"

Am using windows 7 64 bits....
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\New World Computing\Heroes Chronicles\Warlords\
for Warlords of the Wasteland
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\New World Computing\Heroes Chronicles\Underworld\
for Conquest of the Underworld
....
and so on

Change 'Show Intro' value from 1 to 0 for each Heroes Chronicles game (8 total).
I went to this path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\New World Computing\Heroes Chronicles\Warlords\
for Warlords of the Wasteland
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\New World Computing\Heroes Chronicles\Underworld\
for Conquest of the Underworld
....
and so on and i could not find the 'Show Intro' value...
Should reinstall the application? or....
finally i did find it... actually u have to do a search result... that is search for show intro...
And then you change the value to 0

Thanks Tarnum
another problem i could only find the "show intro" only for beastmaster and fiery moon....
For the others the files wouldn't show up...
Of course you need starting each Heroes Chronicles game (as administrator) at least once in order to get necessary registry entries. There's no way to avoid playing the intros first time though.
yep.... everything is just working fine now
Thanks again
I need help on trying to skip the Intro of Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I followed people's suggestion on going to the regedit and changing the value from 1 to 0. It works but sometimes when I play the game it goes back to playing the intro like if the value was 1 again. I looked back in regedit and it still says 0. If I go and let it play through the whole intro thing, it won't play it again for a couple of days. Some days later it will randomly play the intro again.

ps Also when I do get on the game it resets my settings in there for some odd reason.

It sounds like you're running the game sometimes as admin and sometimes as normal user.

I just play the game off of the Galaxy program without the admin pop up window going up. Maybe I'll try running as admin if it does that again.
