Passing this on for a friend:

"Hello Everyone. I bought this during a GOG sale, and it really looks great. I'm excited to play. However, I'm having what appear to be graphics issues, and I am hoping someone can help me figure out what to do. I have Windows 8.1 with a partial SSD and an Intel HD4000 graphics card. I have never had this issue on any other game.

When the game loads, it looks like there is a thunderstorm on top of the game. Does that make any sense at all? The image loads just fine - you can see the picture on the screen. But on top of that image there is a constantly moving mishmash of stuff that resembles a thundercloud.

It is rendering the game unplayable, and I am sad. Any thoughts appreciated."

Any input is appreciated!

Have you tried altering/disabling some of the graphics options and changing the resolution in the configuration ? Think it asks you the first time but you can also find it in the game folder (right click shortcut on desktop and left click open file location in win7).

Passed along and got the following response:

"Yes, Genki - I have tried every configuration imaginable. *Cry*

Tomorrow will be uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Will report back. Thanks!"

SO, I'll report back if she figures something out... and in the meantime, if anyone else has any ideas, I'm all "ears"!
Please have your friend write to our Support department about this issue directly :) Here's the Support link for Heretic Kingdoms, so have your friend just follow it: http://www.gog.com/support/heretic_kingdoms_the_inquisition

Thanks :)

I shall do so, thank you kindly :)
actually having the exact same issue - disappears when switching to win 98 compatability mode, but then the FPS drops drastically to a slow motion ordeal.

Did your friend manage to get it sorted through support?

Also some screens to illustrate the issue:

I'm guessing she did, because she never mentioned it again! Will poke her and see what she has to say.

Ta!
I'm having the same issue, I'm assuming my Intel HD graphics card is the reason, which means I'm probably out of luck until I can buy/build a gaming PC.

Same here, for both Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition and Consortium: The Master Edition. I really should get around to making a gaming PC though...

if only i had the money!...
anyways, ive also noticed the issue (thought to a lesser extent) with offworld resouce base.

i tried win 98 compatability mode and the problem goes, but everything runs in slow motion... must be some way around it

I saw your earlier post about trying Win 98 Compatibility Mode and tried it, the game wouldn't start at all, but would start using Windows 95 Compatibility Mode, but with the drawbacks you mentioned for Win 98 Compatibility Mode (everything is in slow motion). I tried changing the settings in the menu but that didn't have any effect at all.

I'm having the same issue (screen going all weird sometimes) with Gothic 3 which is strange, considering it worked just fine on my other laptop that had the exact same video card and drivers...but it IS Gothic 3.

I wonder if its a driver update at fault - i didnt have the issue with ORB previously...

That's a good question, but my drivers are supposed to be completely up to date (they are as of about a month ago) and I'm not having any graphics card related issues with any games other than Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisitor (the screen going weird), Consortium: The Master Edition (inventory menu doesn't want to show up) and Gothic 3 (the screen going weird). Maybe the game just isn't compatible with Intel graphics cards?
