Hi! Is there any progress or workaround except faking DS4 controller? I've tried running through Steam, on desktop windows and on Steamdeck and in both cases it failed. Could anybody share how did you get xbox controller working with Heavy Rain on GOG? Many thanks!

P.S. I waited very long to get this game DRM free, it's not nice that developer is treating us this way.

Basically, it emulates DualShock4 from SteamDeck. Be sure you have disabled SteamInput and use specific Proton version with DualShock4 support.

I bought the game here yesterday and tested a few things. In my opinion the problem is the HeavyRain.exe here.

I installed the epic version of the game and started it. It had full controller support etc. Everything was fine.

Then I deinstalled the epic version and installed the gog version of the game, but before deinstalling epic version I moved the exe to another folder.

Started the gog version - > Controller didn't work.
So I replaced gog's HeavyRain.exe with epic's HeavyRain.exe in the game's folder (gog game). Result: Game recognized the controller and everything worked fine. So (in relation to controller support of the gog version) to me the exe is the broken file there.

That is bonkers.

But if it works it works. I guess we can buy the game on Epic, copy over the exe somewhere, uninstall from Epic and then ask Epic for a refund?

Doing all this on a Steam Deck is going to be extra fun

lol that 100% worked. I bought it from EGS, copied the exe file, uninstalled and quested a refund from EGS (it's self-refundable so it's easy), copied it over to my steam deck (renamed both exe files so I'd keep both versions for later just in case) and renamed a copy of the EGS one heavyrain.exe. Launched the game and controller now works just fine.

That is an absurd workaround. Thank you for figuring it out, @stvn87!

It might be that this EGS version doesn't include motion controller support - brushing your teeth is accomplished with the right stick (which for Steam Deck makes sense, really - I don't want to be shaking my screen around). It does seem like I'm going to have to wrestle with the control sensitivity a bit as I keep failing right stick up/down checks. Tips welcome on fiddling with those.

Still feel like maybe buying this for steam deck on GOG for DRM reasons might've been foolish, but it's the principle of the thing, right? XD

Someone shoul send the .exe to GOG staff.

Me funcionó! muchas gracias hermano, he querido jugar este juego mucho tiempo pero odiaba tener que jugar con teclado asi que me habia comprado el mando, la decepción que me llevé cuando ví que no funcionaba con mando de xbox. Gracias en serio :)

En mi opinión esta es la forma más fácil de lograr que reconozca el mando de xbox, simplemente asegurense de no pasar las 2hrs de juego en Epic y no olvidar pedir el reembolso
