Tried out the game for the first time after getting it a while ago, only to run into severe graphical issues.
"sprites" are all super rough and low quality, animations seem bugged (characters seemed to be clipping through the floor at one point); In addition to getting extreme pop in (details would only appear when the camera was super close)
Some text was not displaying properly (and some would load then go away, then slowly load again)
Sprites seemed partially transparent at some points
There are other things that might be issues, but might be artist decisions; Avoided looking up gameplay due to wanting to avoid all spoilers and being heavily recommended the game by people I trust, but by the standards of the game-page screenshots, everything looks considerably worse.
I will be looking up videos at the risk of getting spoiled for a proper comparison.

all this on a gtx 1650

in the meantime, is there any way to adjust the game settings beyond resolution?

I noticed this problem too and just found a solution. So the game uses Unity as so many games do, but it doesn't show the little configuration launcher that most Unity games do (where there is an option for graphics quality level from 'Fastest' to 'Fantastic').

After a bit of googling I found out that the game stores its configuration settings in the Windows registry* at
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Inkle Ltd\Heaven's Vault.
Look for the key "UnityGraphicsQuality_h1669003810" - the numerical value of this key corresponds to the quality setting list, with 1 being Fastest and 5 being Fantastic. I changed it to 5 and suddenly the 'sprite' textures are loading at a much higher resolution and the rocks in the intro don't pop in as obviously.

I hope this helps!

*EDIT: I forgot to mention, to edit the registry you can simply type "regedit" in the start menu or press Windows+R and type the same. Use that to find the address I mentioned and make the edit. Thanks to matildarenman below for pointing that out.

Holy crap man, thank you so much! The graphics thing was driving me nuts and this comes out of nowhere and fixes it - I needed to thank you for this!

For anyone else in the future who finds this, the way to reach the HKEY directory is by running Windows+R (to open Run), enter "regedit" and approve the admin verification popup. Then just navigate through.

I'm off to enjoy my HQ game :) only took 100 hours lol

No problem! Glad you can enjoy this amazing game while letting it look its best. Sorry for glossing over how you even edit the registry, I've been doing little registry edits here and there for so long it even needed telling.
I'll add a little bit about that.
