So I was playing the only good pirate is a dead pirate mission or whatever it's called in Legions of Iron. The one where you have to rescue your rival commander from the first act. I and once I rescue her by aproaching her ship with a vessel that doesn't have a hero in it already she seemingly enters it... except that she now has no name. It's just a blank spot then her level. And it's been like that since. I'm now much farthur along and she's automatically been taken with me each time, but her name is constantly blank.

Anyone heard of this problem and/or have it too?

I get it also, its not much of a biggy, but it would be cool if it was patched though, but i am finding the research tree to be more vital to fix, since it doesn't show properly for anything above 800x600 resolution.

Got the same issue, but not only in that mission, in the Mars Campaign Major Da Silva joins you and all I get is a blank name :/
It always happens to me. If I'm Earth, Nilea's name doesn't show up and if I'm Mars Jack's name doesn't show up. Happened for a few other characters but I don't remember the names.

She's actually a pretty good planet governor to have, and if this affects later heroes than it would be a major problem (e.g. Kuchera). I'm guessing that it could be a numbering issue (she shared the same number as Jack Garner) but am still experiementing (pulling in level files from a known-good version of Haegemonia).

As for the research issue, replace the Hagemonia executable (hgm.exe) as detailed in the You MUST play at 800x600 thread for a fix.

Managed to find a solution to this, by replacing the level data with that from a previous version of Haegemonia.

In the Haegemonia folder (in C:\Program Files\GOG Games\ if you chose the default location during install) there should be a sub-folder, Haegemonia Legions of Iron. Within that is a Game_inf subfolder which contains a Levels folder. Rename this Levels folder (to say, Levels-orig, so you can recover it later if needed) and download the following 1.6MB file.

Levels.rar

(apologies for using a file sharing service, but GOG limit attached files to 500KB - you will need to allow cookies and Javascript for uploading.com for this page to work).

It is a RAR file so you will need an extractor like (free), [url=http://www.7-zip.org/]7-Zip (free) or WinRAR (commercial) to open it. Extract to the Game_inf folder and it should create a new Levels folder.

Existing save games in that mission won't be affected - starting a new campaign will work (tested), loading a save from the previous mission may work (not tested).

Nilea won't appear as a transferable hero when starting the next mission - this is normal as she is transferred automatically. Enjoy!

This is rather a quick and dirty fix, but hopefully may solve other issues too.

Shame that the file doesn't exist anymore :(

Uploaded file (1.6MB) to FileUfo.com (javascript needs to be enabled on that site to download):

Levels.rar

Hope that helps.

PS. I did raise a support ticket pointing to this thread which was acknowledged - if you find the file works for you, raising a ticket yourself may help spur GOG to fix the original problem.

Sure would be nice to know how to fix this myself since the file has gone missing... again and this "no name" bug really bugz me. BTW the bug occurs for Jack when playing the Mars episodes. His name goes blank when rescued.

I've included it as an attachment this time around. Hopefully that'll last longer. :)

Edit: well stuff that, GOG only displays images. Here's another link:

Thanks. Does this also fix Jack's missing name when playing the Mars missions?

I loaded a save game and Nilea's name is still blank. Oh well. I then loaded an earlier mission, completed it again to start the next mission. Nilea's name is still blank.

I'm fairly sure you need to start a new campaign and it should fix Jack's name also. Do confirm that you have extracted the data to the right place (it should overwrite the Levels subfolder of the Haegemonia LOI game).
Hello i´m new here.
I´ve just encountered the same... inconvenience. ;)

It would be nice, if the levels.rar could be renewed, since all the links above are dead...

Best regards.
Still no real Solution??? =(
Still not fixed in GoG version.

I just run into this bug, and all the links above were already dead. Luckily, I still had my nearly 15 year old CD of this game.
I even had all the installed datafiles on this sytem (you may ask why I bought GoG version, then. I did so because I wanted to have it on GoG for when CD eventually fails).

I copied the Levels folder and it works. I played first 4 missions of Martian campaign without any problems. My CD is for Polish language version, but it appears that Levels folders are language independent.

For anyone seeking files, I attached them. I had to fool GoG forum a bit. They are compressed using 7-zip, I had to change extension to .jpg to be able to upload them, but real filenames and extensions should be :"Levels.7z.001", "Levels.7z.002" and "Levels.7z.003". Adjust names and you should be able to unpack the files.
