Anyone else using this with Win 8 64bit? I get the intro videos but the game crashes when going to the main menu. Tried run as admin, xp and 98 compatibility. Also installed DX 9.0C.

Same thing here, also with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

I have DX9 in all its versions thanks to Microsoft's "DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer". Tried to install DirectX 8.1 for NT/2000 but Windows warns it is unsupported.

I also tried various compatibility modes (XP SP2/SP3, Windows 98/2000 & Windows 95) always in administrator mode, but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem but luckily I keep an old computer running xp around for such occasions.

I tried installing several patches, nocd fixes after that. Tried several drivers, but never got the game running. It's really a shame the game won't run.
I really hate Win8 and probably will go back to win 7.

It's really a great game had the same problem on windows 8, but the solution was really easy.

all you have to do:
you have to start the game with the game exe in the instalation directory, NOT THE DEFAULT DESKTOP LINK.

just send the right exe. to the desktop.

Huh. This worked for me. Also, when doing it this way, running it in compatibility mode or as admin actually CAUSED the crash. Just run straight hgm.exe with normal privileges. worked like a charm

I also have the same issue on Windows 10 Pro (64 bit). Right after the opening vids, it crashes. I would like to see this fixed...

same issue with Windows 10

On steam it was the same issue but developpers made a patch for this issue
