Hey, everyone.

I play this game using my Xbox One Controller and it works, but the game recogniizes it as a PS4 controller, it also shows the PS symbols, which can be quite irritating. This is not game-breaking but I would really appreciate a fix. :) I have the latest patch installed and it is still happening.
According to the developers, it was an intentional design decision. There were some complaints and they said they would look into it, but that it was not a priority. There is no guarantee it will be fixed.
I hate that Microsoft have pushed the Xbox controller so hard as 'the PC controller' that people now expect games to give it special treatment or something...
First of all, Zaine, thanks a lot for that link, that explains all.

And Sir, like I said, it is not gamebreaking that it displays another controller, but it actually shows the PS symbols instead of the Xbox buttons, so that means players who are not familiar with a PS controller will have to trial&error the layout which is an unnecessary hassle, that's all I am saying. :)

Eh, it works both ways. I'm familiar enough with the PlayStation controllers as I've use the different generation controllers, but all the PC games display XBox control icons instead of PlayStation icons when I'm using my PS4 controller on the PC. It does take a little to adjust, but once you do, you find they are interchangeable.

Where I tend to run into problems is when I switch from playing a game on the PC to the same game on the PS3. I keep trying to hit the Square button when the prompt for X shows on the screen, heh.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I just meant that at one time, PC games never had symbols specific to any particular controller, it would just specify 'button 3' or sometimes it would only give you the keyboard key. What I'm trying to say is that even if you aren't familiar with playstation buttons, just treat the symbols as arbitrary ones specific to the game. I'm just saying that this is kind of how all PC games used to be before Microsoft managed to convince everyone to drop support for pretty much all controllers other than the 360 one (there are other controllers that work now but only because they tell the computer they're a 360 controller).

I have a Logitech controller that's pretty cool - used it quite a bit before getting the PS4 controller. It's (I think) the F310 and has a switch on the bottom to convert between XInput (Xbox 360) and DInput (everything else). Great for older games that have issues with the XInput scheme (like not being able to use the triggers). The sticks on it a little stiff though, and have too much of a dead zone in the middle. But otherwise, not too bad at all. =)

That's what I was referring to in the brackets at the end of my post: "(there are other controllers that work now but only because they tell the computer they're a 360 controller)".

Unfortunately, Logitech base their controllers on the symmetrical Playstation layout with both sticks at the bottom, which I find really difficult to use. Most other controller manufacturers don't seem to have cottoned on yet...

I'd use a 360 controller but they have horrible d-pads. Only Nintendo seem to get controllers right, the Gamecube controller was a classic and the Wii U Pro controller is pretty good.

The D pad on the Xbox one controller is pretty decent I've found

It's a subjective thing, I tend to prefer d-pads that have a stronger cardinal direction bias like the Nintendo + shaped d-pad or the PS one, unfortunately I find the position of the left stick bad on a PS controller. I know I'm fussy.
I prefer the SNES pad for digital control and the GC controller for dual-analogue. The N64 one was quite a good compromise, a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none.

I'm with you there, only with the 360 controller's asymmetrical layout - three generations of PlayStation systems does that to you, heh. I do have a MadCatz wired 360 controller that I used a lot, so it's a little easier to switch between the layouts.

My preferred controller now is a PS4 controller I purchased for a PlayStation TV console, but I also use it on my computer with the DS4Windows tool. It has a great d-pad, good thumbsticks (not too stiff like the Logitech and not to loose like the MadCatz). As a bonus, the touchpad doubles as a very basic mousepad.
