TCloud9: If anyone is still curious about this, the update was the addition of the German language pack. I remember seeing it in a post the other day from gog itself, but I can't seem to find it on the main page. Seeing as how everyone on this thread is speaking English, that's not as exciting news as, say, the soundtracks being added. Also, Astaldo, the 1.75 community patch was already added to the game when gog released Gothic 3 (and the fact that gog released it with a fan-made patch make me chuckle. The original game must've been incredibly buggy, but the graphics and fixes are perfectly fine with me ;) ).
It's actually very exciting, because it's a German game, and there are many German speaking people on this site who really want to play this game in their native language and bugged GOG, Nordic Games and Piranha Bytes for years to add the German Version. ;)
Also, while 1.75 is a fan-made patch, it's nonetheless an official patch - the team got paid by NG, they got access to the source code and it's also included in all new retail editions published by NG.
Basically, after Piranha Bytes and JoWood went apart, the game was still pretty much broken (PB actually intended to release a so-called "Gigabyte patch"), so they got a bunch of programmers from the community to fix the game, and they've been working on it ever since - they say after pretty much every patch that it's going to be the final one, but since 1.75 still has some problems, you can probably expect them to release a 1.76 sometime.
