I've finished the required quests for the Thieves Guild to notice me (Brazen Thief, Package and Bandit Raids/Fishmonger ya?) but Kardif won't speak to me about someone looking for me behind Halvor's Fish Stand.

Thing is the Fishmonger quest never registered in my questlog, don't know if that has anything to do with it?

Ya, I read the note, talked to Halvor and made a deal with him. The quest didn't activate though. I even tried to reload an earlier game and talk to him again, no luck.

Hmm... that's strange. Two slightly unlikely possibilities: did you wait at least a day or two before speaking to Kardiff? Did you join the militia during the quests?

You've got a point with the waiting bit, I'm going to give that a try. It's only logical after all. Fingers crossed and all that!

EDIT: No luck with waiting a couple of days. And no, I havn't signed on with the militia. It's probably something to do with the fact that the Fishmonger quest won't log in my questlog. Can't find anyone else who's had this problem.

Well, now I've also tried using the console to force Attila to appear (makes the game crash) and also give myself the thieves guild key (says there is no such thing though I'm pretty sure I've got the right input line. Going to give this a rest. A shame I let Bartok die, no sneak training to be had in a while :p

Thanks for the help though, at least I can feel special knowing no one else seems to have run into this particular issue.

Just FWIW, this happened to my game, too, only I was able to insert Attile by using the console (VLK_494) and get the key and the XP.

After he gave me the key he walked over to stand next to Edda, and I guess that's where he should have been all along.
