Well, not brand new, but finally fixed. Enyone who ever played G3 in it's realase state knows how frustrating this game was. Recently I downloaded a new community patch. I have to admit I was rather sceptical. I mean, how much can a patch change? Well, how about one that weights 888MB. It's a lot bigger then Fallout 2 game.
It changed the game completely. I play it for a week (got kind of addicted) and haven't encounter a single bug, New textures look fantastic. I didn't know how beautiful game it was. New "alternative ballance" and "new AI' features changed the whole experience.
Seriously this new community patch redeemed the game for me just about when i was ready to renounce it forever.
To play it you still need a very powerful rig, but if you have one and loved two previous games you just have to play it.

That is a link to a community patch team official site. You can download the patch there. It works with all language versions.
Look at a changelog:

For a moment there I thought this thread was going to be about the dreadful Forsaken Gods expansion. I don't have Gothic 3 yet but I will certainly be using the Community Patch once I do.

Oh I tell myself Forsaken Gods never happened. We have to erase it from memory, pretend it never existed.
Gothic 3 still has it's flaws. No main story (at least significant one) and houndreds of Fed Ex questes but I don't care. It still feels like same old Gothic. Really if you like RPG's then you have to play it.
Seems that game's engine doesn't like AMD based machines. It prefers Intel and GeForce only. On my rig which can pretty much handle all games on highest details it still has slowdowns. But that doesn't matter. It's still great.
This sounds interesting. Might have to pick up Gothic 3 now. GoG, you're on the case.
I actually picked up gothic 3 for $9 about 2 weeks ago, been playing it with the community patch. No real bugs besides some animals running inside rocks and stuff, all quests are working. Game is actually pretty sweet when its working. I do get some major slowdowns when doing any light intensive actions, like pulling out fire arrows (game almost freezes for a few seconds trying to figure out where to cast the light coming off the fire) or trying to teleport, but besides that everything is solid. I never played the game before this patch, so can't really say how its changed in gameplay, I'm using the alternate balancing and AI stuff... killing orcs gets old though, real fast.
I found the Collector's edition of Gothic 3 for $7.50 over the weekend, so I'm just waiting until I dig into Gothic 2 before I start up 3.

yea that's the same as what I got, super cheap right now, definitely worth the price after playing it for the last week or two.
I seen it today at about 10$, so what GOG and jowood are waiting?
I want it from here, so i'm certain to avoid cd, key and other annoying protection!

With the latest patch, you don't need the CD in the drive.
I'm currently halfway through the game and had no problems with it. Not a single bug. The only problem is that the game doesn't run as smoothly as I expected but it may be due to my ATI video card. For some unknown reason game prefers NVIDIA cards. Alternative balance and alternative AI makes the game quite hard. No more dispatching countless mobs and left-clicking everything that moves and doesn't climb tree.

It's not just ATI, i have a evga card and it stutters at random points. Like I said before, anything involved light effects just slows things down, but other things at random times make it slow. but its bug free so far! except that i can't find the goddamn 12th fire chalice.
Final patch was released recently.
What's preventing G3 from coming here, anyway?

There is a bug with that chalice. The renegade paladin Kurt on a pass to Varant should have this in his inventory. If it's not on him it should be in a chest nearby. On my playthrough it wasn't anywhere and i was forced to use conlole to obtain it.
It's not as bug free as I expected. And the combat gets kinda old after a while. I'm well past level 50 and could waltz in Geldern and slay everything that moves there without breaking a sweat, but few ice wolfes are able to dispatch me very quickly.
But hey, it's still great.
