Hello everyone, I've downloaded a gothic1_playerkit-1.08k for G1 to be able to play the mods, and also the Golden MOD 2.92. When I start the game it says than the mod is working, but no changes occur. No new quests or locations.
The version of the game is 1.-8k_mod when I start it up.
Am I unpacking things wrong or installing them in the wrong location?
Is it possible to run multiple mods at a time? I have a blue_Sky
installed as well, should I get rid of it?
Can someone please guide me through the sequence step by stem of how to install a mod?

Did you select the mod in the GothicStarter before selecting play the game option?
Edit: The only mod I use is the fps unlock, but I downloaded Golden Mod to check - as I said - you have to choose the mod before playing (since most mods are mutually exclusive). If you installed it into the game directory it should be visible in the GothicStarter - just select it and hit Play the Game. See attached image.

Language version shouldn't affect anything (I can use English mods in my Polish version, but I don't know how Russian version works). Considering the fact that Golden Mod is Russian as far as I know it shouldn't be a problem.
You say that the game says that the mod is working - does that mean that you get a different starting screen?
One last question - at the very beginning of the game - do you see a wench at the entrance to the mine (see attached image)?

The wench is definitely not there. Starting screen is the same.
There is one other thing. I have different mods installed, such as GodFathermod, could that be an issue?

What folder did you install te mod in, the same as the game or different?

Interesting (in a bad way ;)). I installed the mod into the game directory (which was D:\Gry\Gothic in my case but that's irrelevant). The installer recognised the game folder by itself (I ran it from a different partition and it still suggested the right path).
I didn't really play with mods that much, so most of the things I say now is guessing. I can think of two explanations right now - either the Russian version is acting differently than the other versions, or the mod files are conflicting.
I downloaded the Golden Mod from World of Gothic and it installs two versions (English and Russian) - have you tried both?
If all else fails - you can try a clean install and applying mods one at the time (I am not sure if removing the mods will leave any trace in the core game files, so you may try reinstalling the game itself as well, if it is not a problem). Different mods shouldn't conflict with each other, but that doesn't mean that they can't (as I said earlier - I use the fps unlock mod, and it is working along the Golden mod if I decide to play it, but it works as a "patch" rather than an option, so this may be the reason).
If after a clean game install, Player Kit - v1.08k install and a single mod install it still doesn't work, then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas (but as I said - I don't know what differences exist between the language versions).
If I can find some time, then I will try installing other mods simultaneously, and will report later (no promises though).

That's the version I tried so it shouldn't be a problem. You didn't answer my question - have you tried both English and Russian version?
My suggestion remains the same - try installing the mods one at a time and see if it works.

Screen is the same no wrench. Maybe its becase of Windows 7...
I cant start Gothic 2 for some reason. The process just hangs there and the gbame doesnt start.
The other funny thing is that when I reinstalled G1, and deleted the folder, all the saved games were there anyway.

I'm on the "good old" Win XP, so things may go a little different. The saves are there because Win 7 stores these files in separate location (I can't remember where exactly) if you don't set the compatibility for earlier systems. Make sure you run everything (game installs, mod installs and game itself) as an administrator. You can also try setting the compatibility mode to WinXP.

Saves are stored in C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore; the particular folder it is in will reflect wherever you installed it to. Note that AppData is a hidden folder, but you can get there by entering its path in the address bar.
Running the game as an administrator isn't required and is not recommended. I am on 7 and I have had no trouble playing Gothic and mods for it without any elevation.
The problem you are facing are most likely because your game isn't the English version. Gothic mods are designed with the English and/or German version in mind and are not tested with other languages.

The thing is that Golden mod is a Russian mod and has a Russian version. And I didn't have any problems running mods on my Polish version.
Edit: And that's why I asked if he tried both versions of the mod - a question I still didn't receive an answer for :P.

I did try both English and Russian, there has been no offect. All it takes is walking up to the mine and seeing if there is a wench there.
I probably should install multiple OS's on my PC one for games and 2 for work :P

I am really running out of ideas. I don't know why running as administrator would be not recommended. I admit that I have little experience with Vista and 7 and didn't run Gothic on these systems, but I have seen many problems related to many different games solved this way. It's not like it's going to blow anything up, and you can always reinstall if something goes wrong. If it doesn't help then just run it normally. And I still think that compatibility modes are worth trying.
The fact that the game runs on one configuration without any tweaks doesn't mean it these tricks can't help on another (yes - I have seen it -Thief 3 required applying compatibility mode on one computer, but for whatever reason worked on a very similar configuration without any problems (both Dual Cores with Win XP SP2)).

When I get a new PC, then I'll have 3 OS's and I'll try how it words in XP
