I purchased Gothic 1-3 and Risen 1 today and I noticed that when I launch the games it immediately opens up GOG Galaxy and seems like they cannot run without it opening. Not a big issue but is there a reason for this and why only these 4 games?

These games predate GOG Galaxy, but the games have Galaxy cloud saves, so GOG created shortcuts that launch the game through Galaxy so less tech-savvy users wouldn't launch the game without Galaxy and then wonder why their saves weren't backed-up. It is possible to either re-direct the desktop icons to the game's executables or create new icons and run the games without Galaxy that way.

There is a second download through the webpage. Click on the downward facing chevron and click on view downloads.
This will bring up a new page, near the bottom it says download offline backup game installers. Click on and download all available parts. You can take the files anywhere and click on the installer and install it on any computer. They will not start galaxy.

I tried launched from the Game's EXE in the game folder not the gog related ones and it did the same thing. The only solution was to download the offline game installer and just install the game that way and not through GOG Galaxy.
