Whenever I save in Gothic I it will crash to desktop. The game is running as administrator & UAC is disabled. Vista 64 SP1
DxDiag
Where is the game supposed to keep saves? I see a 'savegame1' in the Program Files/Gothic directory but it is empty.

Hi,
The directory should not be empty, it should look like this: (attached Image).
Try if that happens if you save to other save slots too. It is possible, that Savegame1 is broken.
If that doesn't help, you should try to reinstall the game.

Unfortunately it crashes saving to other slots as well as quicksave. I just get more empty directories. This is the very first save after leaving the starting area. Reinstalling doesn't seem to help.
Did you reinstall to a custom directory? If not, try and reinstall in the default directory that the GOG installer wants to install to.
I've got a theory..

Did you install in the proper Program Files (x86) directory or did you force it to install in Program Files? Also, have you tried saving with UAC enabled?
It is in Program Files (x86) and reinstalling to the default dir doesn't seem to make a difference. Installed it under XP-32 SP3 now and it saves fine unlike Vista... Annoying but good enough for me.
On your vista machine try installing the game to a folder other then program files, C:\games\gothic or something like that. Next when you run the game make sure you right click it and run it as the administrator.
