We already have G1 and G2G on GOG; it would be nice if we could also have G3. It's a game that's getting old now (it certainly wouldn't be the only 2007 game on the service) and the community has done a great job of patching the game. Not to mention all the quest pack and improvements to the game the modders have done, despite there not being a mod kit.

As far as I remember, the vanilla Gothic 3 was pretty bad but the Patches and expansion improved it a lot

So yes, I too would love to see gothic 3 here

here's hoping they will start selling it for 10 bucks soon ;)

Yeah, the latest patch is very good. You can buy it on Steam for $14.99 and sometimes less on a special and the patch removes the DRM so it's almost like getting a GOG version.
It would be nice to see it on GOG though.

Update: G3 is now $7.49 on Steam.

It would be great, if they did it. But honestly, i dont think they will do that cuz it is still new game compare with others here on GOG.com ...we have to wait a couple of months.
I would definitely buy it.
Even with the patch, the game is still poor. The mechanic of the game is still improved a LOT, though, but the scenario is very so-so. I prefered Oblivion...

I disagree. I prefer G3 to Oblivion any day.
Sure, G3 is a diamond in the rough, but its got more spirit than Oblivion with its cardboard characters and bland setting. The atmosphere and its open world are one of the best, IMHO.
I would definitely buy it.

Really? I heard the expansion completely redid the combat system and everyone hated it.

I was just talking about the patches for the original 3rd game

the expansion was terrible in every way though

anyway, I just hope to see the 3rd game here on gog.com - sooner or later

Could be a while, its still $20 on Impulse.
Comparing Oblivion to Gothic 3 is like comparing Mario Cart for Sega Genesis to Test Drive Unlimited for PC.

Oblivion is lame, it has about 3 voice actors, so everybody in the world sounds the same, the creatures are are leveled to you, so there's nowhere to go that's actually dangerous to you.

In the Gothic series, there's definitely places you don't belong, and will die very quickly, and that's how rpgs should be.

there's far too much hand holding in Oblivion.....Oblivion is a "Care-Bear" game...
Gothic 3 when fully patched is a supremely fun game. It has a different feeling than 1 & 2, but I've spent many evenings wandering through the forests with my bow shooting deer, finding watch towers and watching the sunset. The characters are more interesting than in Oblivion (even without Sean Bean), and the setting feels more fleshed out.

I agree with Desjay, the lack of handholding really is a plus for Gothic 3. I maybe be crazy, but sometimes I like getting lost and refusing to use a map, instead choosing to head east, because I know there was a road to the east. That's my idea of fun.
Lol, I must really laugh. No dangerous places in Oblivion? That's very untrue. You can tell that my thief / mage (non destructive), who totally stuck when closing first Oblivion gate. Those monsters inside are WAY out of my (his) league! And that's also the reason I haven't finished the game, yet.

And about Gothic 3? There's nothing really challenging, unless you're surrounded OR there are Orcish shamans, which are absolute pain in the ass through whole game. Other than that, it's piece of cake. At least compared to Gothic 1 and 2.

Honestly, I don't like the idea of Gothic 3 on GoG. It's neither good (vanilla is really bad, patches put the game to quite playable and fun) nor old game so I don't see reason to have it here. ;-)

Oblivion isn't difficult by design; you made it so through your choices. Oblivion's scaling system relies entirely on raw character level--not what skills make up that level--so if you don't put enough work into offensive skills you will end up being obliterated by enemies that a combat-centric character of the same level would wipe the floor with.
