So I have gotten Gothic 1, and I seem to be having a issue. My mouse always appears on top of the game, and the menus don't work like they should (scrolling feature) It's quite annoying trying to play and watching my mouse move all over the screen, does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

Specs:
Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4200 @2Ghz
4gb DDR3 ram
1024MB Graphics
Windows XP Pro SP3

Just as a note I've noticed this same issue with a few other GOG games as well, not quite sure what could be causing this..

[SOLVED]

Disabled the intro videos by renaming intro.bik and logo1.bik to .bck files mouse now goes away on start :)

I'll check my version of Gothic 1 (Steam version) to see if it's the same for me.

Edit: No mouse on the screen for me. Sorry, I have no idea what could be causing it, or how to fix it other than the usual "put in compatibility mode/run it as an admin" advice.

Thanks anyway Chaser98, but windows xp doesn't really have a "admin mode" per-say and it won't help putting it in win 2k mode or 98 :)
Ah good point, well glad you managed to fix your issues. Isn't there a community patch for Gothic 1 and Gothic 2?

Yes sir there is :b also a lot of good mods that make the game look and play a little better, along with total conversions that are entirely new story's which adds so much potential to the games, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to other sites but if you google "gothic 1 mods world of gothic" the first link has everything you need :)

I didn't have this problem at first then out of nowhere I couldn't get it to stop once it started appearing until I tried your trick. One thing I did differently though was add an _to the name. Anyway THANK YOU!!
