The mod won't install on GOG version of Gothic. I've tried unzipping the exe file, but don't know where to put the extracted files. Directions aren't included. Has anyone successfully installed the Golden Mod on GOG's Gothic 1? How did you do it? Thanks!

Shouldn't you run the executable and let it mod the game? What do you mean saying "the mod won't install"? Which error do you get from it?

Thanks for picking up on my question. It says the original version of GothicMod v.108k not found. I'm installing with the player kit v.108k installed. When I try searching and pick the gog/gothic directlory, the option to install is grayed out.

I'm also having trouble installing dark mysteries on a clean install of Gothic 1 and the Gothic 1 Player Kit. The installer says it's installed but the game launcher isn't present. I can only find Gothic.exe under the game's system directory.

Seems a permissions issue to me: maybe the mod installers aren't allowed to install files into your Gothic folder. Is Gothic installed in a protected directory such as "Program Files" or similar?

No. GOG Galaxy installs it to C:/GOG Games/Gothic. That's where I'm trying to install either of these mods

I was looking for information online...
It seems that Player Kit has to be installed first: try to install it on a fresh install then run the game whose version should change from "1.08k" to "1.08k_mod". Then try to install one of the mods.

Oh! Okay. Thanks. BRB either way.

Hmm...I installed Gothic in two places. The default GOG directory and under C:/Gothic directory. Then I installed player kit on both. And I just now started games on both and saved right after the first conversation with Diego. After that, I quit and tried to install the two mods, one after the other, on both games. The mods still don't work. In fact, GoldenMod won't even install. The option is grayed out. I did exactly as you suggested. Any other ideas?

Okay. I kept playing around and installed a new Gothic to the traditional place under program flies (x86) Piranha-Bytes , etc. I installed the Player Kit. But when I started a new game, saved, quit and tried to play the new save, I noticed it says Gothic v. 1.08k, not Gothic 1.08k_mod, but I guess what's important is the 1.08. So, why don't these game mods install?
