Anyone know an easy way to modify stats? I know you can change a few things through console commands but I've read that you can only use it to level up. I want to /remove/ stats.

I was doing the warehouse quest in the mines and couldn't find the key (NPC wont sell it to me for some reason) so I figured that the chests are just a lockpicking skill check. So I go to a lockpicking trainer aaaaand I just wasted 20 skillpoints.

One of the Baals offers to train me Circle 1 and the text doesn't specify it costing anything to learn aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there goes another 20 skill points.

Look around for an editing program aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand they want $15 what the fuck are these guys smoking?

So far it looks like I'll be giving myself 40 skill points and will ignore runes and dump 200 ore to make up for the lockpicks that should be breaking

Any suggestions?

AFAIK, you can only easily change LPs, attributes (HP / MP / STR / DEX) and weapon proficiencies through console, not skills (magic cicles, acrobatics, thieving skills or animal trophies; in G2 smithing, alchemy... as well). However, you can both increase and decrease these.

Yes, lockpicking is not a traditional attribute/skill. In G1, it just decreases the lockpick breakage probability (0:90% -> 1:50% -> 2:10%), while in G2 it's just an on/off skill.

Swampweed, probably?
If you know your way around a binary file editor (e.g. Hex Workshop), everything player related is in NEWWORLD.SAV under PC_HERO as uint32 values or strings.

Obviously back up the file before editing it.

Gothic 2 is the same.

Edit: This is for Gothic 2 but should be nearly identical for Gothic 1: [see gothic_save_edit.png attachment]

Basically:
1) find PC_HERO
2) find "Next Level" value (see character sheet in game)
3) the very next value after that should be your Learning Points (40 or 0x28)
