Hi there! So I just installed Gothic 1 with SystemPack 1.8 from https://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1340357-Release-Gothic-%C2%BD-%C2%97-SystemPack-%28ENG-DEU%29

But I'm having an issue. When I launch the game it immediately crashes.

If I set scaleVideos = 0 in the gothic.ini it launches fine and I can watch the videos, but they are tiny (playing on 3440 x 1440).

Is there any way to scale the videos up with the system pack or otherwise?

I think that the ultrawide resolution could be the cause of the crash. Maybe setting the game to run in windowed (borderless) mode could help: I suppose it's worth a try.

Edit the file SystemPack.ini as follows:
BorderlessWindow=0 → BorderlessWindow=1
FixAppCompat=1 → FixAppCompat=2 (Note: this change may not be necessary.)

Edit the file for Gothic.ini as follows:
scaleVideos=0 → scaleVideos=1
zStartupWindowed=0 → zStartupWindowed=1

Save the files and run the game.

Thanks for the reply, but no change with those suggestions. Still getting the same crash seemingly so long as scaleVideos = 1

I see. You know, mine was a shot in the dark, if you understand what I mean.
As I said I think that the problem is due to the ultrawide resolution: the game is probably unable to scale the videos to such resolution.

I was thinking to another solution: if I'm not mistaken the game crashes as soon as you run it, right? Well, then why don't you try to force the game to skip intro videos? Just to see if you can at least reach main menu.
Edit gothic.ini and change playLogoVideos=1 to playLogoVideos=0. Save the file then run the game.
