Likely old hat but the search does little here.

Played one then two, now have three (since it is unlikely GOG will ever pick this one up or they'd have it by now). It came patched to version 1.6. As an English version user, do I need any further patches?

Community patch 1.74 is highly recommended :).

Quest Pack 4.2 and Content Mod 2.3 (needs QP 4.2) are additional options.

Kezardin: Community patch 1.74 is highly recommended :).

Quest Pack 4.2 and Content Mod 2.3 (needs QP 4.2) are additional options.

I may have been confused by the way it was written: "Gothic3 Community Patch" since I already knew there was a series of these patches. Anyway, it is here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/gothic_series/gothic_series_patches_mods_tweaks

Nope. it did not fix it. the same error message still shows when trying to run the .exe. The Patch failed to work after installation.
