Hello,
is it possible to make the german version available?
Thanks,
Andreas
No, sorry pal there's only the english version for every game available here.
I second this request! I played Gothic I and II in the original German Version and the Dialogues and the Voice acting was superb!
If it is at all possible: Please get the German version as well. (Then I'll buy the entire Gothic stack ;-) )

I am quite sure you can download a German patch from WorldofGothic.com. I am not 100% sure but I do believe that that you can run a patch meant for the German game on an English version and it replaces ENglish with German.
Would be quite cool. But putting the audio data for the voice acting in a normal patch would be quite redundant. But I hope you're right.

Hence I would recommend making a back up or something of the sort of your game and saves and use this process at your own risk..
Get the newest german patch - I believe this will make the language german. The only downside is the download itself, and the fact that your save games WILL be obsolete.
why can't there be the german version? pleaaaaaaase!!!!!

As the latest german patch for G2 is 8 megabytes large, it surely doesn't contain the German voice acting audio data. However, that's the most important point for me. Do you have any info on whether the German voice acting stuff is included in the English version and can be activated by the patch?

rmaertin: be activated by the patch?

I think this might be the case, but I'm not making any promises.
That doesn't work, and it reintroduces the disc check.

Thanks for clarifying this, Bär.
My bottom line: It would be nice if the German version were included in the Gothic 2 package. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense for German customers to buy G2 here...
I also would like a german version of the two games. I lost my Gothic I CD a long time ago (probably lent it to a friend) and would love to play it again and since this game is originally german I'd rather play it that way.
Just found this:
"The American version of Gothic was censored, but you can
easily make the game 'Mature' again. Find the file
textures_bikini.VDF
beneath the "Data" folder. Remove the "VDF" part
(You can rename it to textures_bikini.VDF- if you wish,
or why not textures_bikini.BAK). Or you can just delete
the file if you dont want to keep it.
Now the game will contain nudity"
That'll make the game a little more German. :P
Also the In Extremo patch will put in the performance sequence for Ch. 2 (while keeping the rest of the game English).

It's all about voice acting. Polish version has superb voice acting and translation. I only bought GoG version because the newest mods don't work with the polish one.
