Gothic was a game that came out to wash away all the sins of Ultima 9 and raise the Action RPG genre from perdition. It was one of the few games that made you feel like you were in an actual, living world, and not in just a video game.

And despite all of that and the fact that my YT channel is mainly focused on indie RPGs, I have never played neither of the Gothics, but nice video!

You really are missing out if you have not played these games yet.

Well, if I wanted to be pedantic, I'd say the Gothic games weren't indies; they had a publisher and all... they just weren't very well advertised outside of Europe. I myself found out about them from a site called Home of the Underdogs, and the site's name should tell you all you need to know about the kinds of games it covered... Goddess, I miss that site.

Anyway, that's enough of me being a pedantic smartass and going off on tangents. What I really wanted to say is, even if these games aren't technically indies, I'd still consider them for a video if I were you. As far as I'm concerned, everything good you've ever heard about Gothic 1 and especially 2 is true. :)

I am quite aware of Home of the Underdogs - I used to visit it constantly many-many years ago when my rig couldn't handle many modern games :)
