Hopefully they make the old installer available again for owners.

Since this problem isn't new (several editions don't allow to install Gothic II without add-on), a WoG community member created the Gothic II Classic-Mod. Due to engine changes in Gothic II: Night of the Raven a 100% conversion isn't possible - but it's very close and new/hidden features (like quick-save/load) aren't that bad :)

The "international" version "2.7 (eng)" doesn't support modifications (by intention/design).

Step by step to get it running:
(1) install Gothic 2 Gold Edition (setup_gothic2gold_2.0.0.8.exe)
(2) in [gothic2]/_work/Data/Scripts/CONTENT/CUTSCENE make a copy of Ou.dat as Ou.bin
(3) in [gothic2]/system make a copy of Gothic.exe as Gothic2.exe
(4) install the "report" version (gothic2_fix-2.6.0.0-rev2.exe)
(5) install the GothicStarter (gothic2_playerkit-2.6f.exe)
(6) install the Gothic II Classic Mod (G2_Classic-1.1.exe)

Now you can use the [gothic2]/system/GothicStarter.exe to launch the Gothic II Classic-Mod or Gothic II: Night of the Raven.

If you want to directly run the Classic-Mod you can create a link to the GothicStarter.exe with the following parameters:
-game:G2_Classic -start

ps: same procedure for the German release (setup_gothic2gold_german_2.0.0.8.exe) - but you skip step (2) and (3).

GOG, please add vanilla Gothic 2 as an optional download with a remark of compatibility issues (if there are any). Or return an option in Options to install, but with warning of compatibility issues (again, if there are any). Not everyone is using Windows 8. Some are on XP and even Linux, using wine to play some games. Please keep this in mind.

not giving chance to play original game. It`s a great expansion but where is original Gothic 2 ?

edit: thank you Cadaver747, I know, and still want original Gothic 2.

edit2: Got Gothic 2 everywhere apart from Gog.com library, I want it in my library, otherwise it does not exist here. Thanks for help
