Towards the end of the orc temple, after I've killed 4 shaman, I try to cross a bridge and the game immediately crashes with the following error:
B: VFILE: Err: -2: Can't find file: _WORK[slash]DATA[slash]SOUND[slash]ITRW_2H_ORCSTAFF_01.MRM Code: 255
I can't get past this point, even with Marvin mode, and the worldofplayers.de English thread does not have an answer to this problem.
Anyone encounter this error and come up with a solution?

I figured out how to bypass it. I just disabled sound in the GOTHIC.INI file, then after the area where it calls for that sound, I re-enabled sound. All is now well in the barrier!

It seems to be a problem with the GOG installer. They're working on an updated/fixed installer, it seems.

Yes. It appears that some sound files are not being properly installed. There is another post related to this issue. In one instance GOG sent the missing file to the original poster (in his case, I think it was a missing sound file for an Orc Hammer).

I got a very similar error just now after turning the third switch in the first room with the three demons:
B: VFILE: Err: -2: Can't find file: _WORK\DATA\TEXTURES\DESKTOP\ITRW_2H_ORCSTAFF_01.MRM Code: 255
Didn't happen either time after reloading twice, though.
Edit: and again later in the fire area:
B: VFILE: Err: -2: Can't find file: _WORK\DATA\MESHES\DESKTOP\ITRW_2H_ORCSTAFF_01.MRM Code: 255

I have this problem with the missing sound file. When I came across the first Orc Shaman it seemed to correct itself now I'm having the problem when I try to go near the second Sharman.

I don't have GOG version, but in Win XP I solved this problem by putting the game in Win 98 compatibility mode (the game appeared to be working fine until that point).
