I just bought this game and I go to new game and I start talking to the guy and after awhile both guys quit talking and the game sits there. It's not frozen because everything is clearly running (I can even pull up my inventory) but the dialogue just won't move on. I can press every button and nothing will get it to break out of that. What's going on here?

I'm using XP btw

This bugs appears sometimes but not too often. Just restart the game and you should be fine.

If the prob still persists please give us more information. I suppose you are talking about G2 ;)
Yes, it's G2. I've opened it at least 10 times and I get it every time. I'm on windows XP with a Geforce 9600 GT (drivers are up to date) and a AMD X2 5200. Should be more than enough to run Gothic.

Maybe too much; old games sometimes hang up because they are being run TOO fast. You might have to go back to an earlier save or even start over :( . You can try running your PC as a single core to slow it down. That worked for me with Bloodlines. I did have that happen (also have XP) but can't remember what I actually did. I know I had to save a lot because of the many bugs (although much less then in Gothic I).

Thanks! That worked. I hadn't thought of it because the game wasn't stuttering like games that need a core disabled usually do.
