I think I found all notes in the game, but some things are still puzzling me.

1. What are the bells in the basement for? One bell is missing, two bells make a sound, but the other two don´t. Is this a puzzle? Can the missing bell be found?

2. Is there any use for the hidden cross? What is the point in finding it?

3. How can I read the letter under the sink in the basement? If you found it, you know, what I mean. The complete text is visible for a few moments, but it vanishes before I can read it. I want to know the details :)

Can't help with 1 or 2.

For 3, the note is absolutely worth reading, but there's no way to read it longer or a second time in-game. I finally read it by reloading a previous save, opening the note, and taking a screen shot before it disappeared - though I expect you might also be able to find a copy online with a little Googling.

Thanks, found it on the internet. It is a strange design choice to not let us read the letter ingame. Maybe they thought, we would buy the official game guide :)

I don't know exactly why one of the bells is missing, though this is an area I'm going to look at a little more closely if/when I play this again. Bells like that, though, are indications that the room was a ready room for the servants when the house was built. The butler or valet or maid, or some combination depending on how large the domestic staff was, would be expected to respond when the residents pulled the bell cords in those rooms. The domestics would sleep and eat in the rooms nearby, so that they could hear when they were being called.

I love that you can't read that one letter.

It's a very interesting design choice - as all great art, games are not meant only to satisfy you and feed you metaphorical fast food, but also to make you feel other emtions, and frustration is one of them - and makes you question your own voyeuristic impulses. Imagine if it was you and your own story and house. Would you really read the secret erotic retellings of your sister/brother if you found them? Would you? The games makes you ask exactly that question.
