Edit: solved, I didn't have this problem any more since I made sure steam is not launched before launching "God of War" (it seems the Steam app steals controller-inputs)!

For some reason my X-Box controller does not work.

- Tried reconnecting it to no avail, nothing
- tried turning the controller off/on, nothing
- tried to force using emulating the controller as x-box/x-box one controller, nothing

The only way to get it to work is to emulate a ds4 controller. But that's a bad solution because it will only show the playstation symbols, not the letters I'm familiar with. In an interview Matt DeWald from Santa Monica studio bragged about them having full support of X-Box controllers, but that seems to be plain lie?

Could we get a comment?

I want to buy the game, but I need to be able to use the superior Xbox controller. I don't own any Sony controllers and do not intend to buy them. I prefer to use controllers for console games.
My Logitech F310 controller isn't recognized either. It works with virtually every other game, but not with GOW.
I'm hoping we'll get a patch soon.
anyone tried this on rog ally,? is the game able to detect the onboard controller

Strange.. My Logitech F310 had no problem at all... Weird
The game correctly recognizes my Xbox One controller connected via an Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
controllers working fine on the ally.. but the games got 160000 files, the installation took a while
I realized that when I put my controller in X-input mode (the switch on the back) the game recognizes the controller. It's just that using X-input mode has cause a lot of headaches in the past (where games either don't recognize the controller or some of the buttons) so I just leave it on D-input mode and forget about it.
I found the reason why my xbox controller wasn't working in some games such as god of war was there was a xbox 360 peripherals setting in the control panel device manager and after disabling that device the games started working again with the xbox controller.

Update: I found in my case the culprit seems to be Steam running in the background! If I disable Steam in the taskbar before starting God of war the controller works without issues (or secondary tools like REWASD).

I guess the problem is that the built-in function of Steam to add controller support to steam games that don't offer it natively, somehow intercepts controller events so they don't get through to the games that actually do. And this is not limited to Steam games. Anyway, I can confirm that God of war does indeed support X-Box series controllers, connected via bluetooth, without issues or additional software!
