Yeah, I have the same issue. Fully updated version of the game seems to be higher than dlc. Even without installing JoTL (which I can't d/t the same error message) my game does not even start. It gets stuck on the loading screen.

The entire game doesn't work, wrong DLC aside

Please be advised that Gloomhaven and the DLC are mismatched and therefore cannot install. What's more is that the main game just hangs on loading. There is no rolling back to any previous version as this is all that's available. I'm sure this is not my issue alone.

v1.0.8678.27253 has never existed in my account.

I just bought this game and have the same forever loading problem. (27266)

I contacted support and asked for a previous version to try before I get a refund.

It would save them and users trouble if they just had older versions available to dl.

Of course they also need to have a working current version ultimately.

I just tried that and have exactly the same problem. See screenshot. I also installed in the correct order. The game just hangs there, perpetually loading . . .

I don't have GoG Galaxy nor do I intend too. If I want overlays I'll just load Steam. I buy from GoG to not have all that junk running in the backgound.

On that note: There are Steam API in this game's directory.

My System:
I have an AMD Ryzen 3900X with 128GB. GTX 1080 Ti FTW (Dell Gaming Monitor 165Mhz) I run heavier applications then this without issue. It's not my hardware.

I got a feedback from Falran from GoG.com support team, who shared that the developers are aware of the problem and they are working on it to fix it. He endorsed that the versions are incorrect and that's what causing the problem.

I also reached out to Asmodee's team support, with screenshots of the issue, just in case, so they can feel more pressure on working harder:)

Hopefully we will get the necessary patch soon. Interestingly the Steam version works fine according to my friend who owns it.

Thanks for the info. I do think it's the Steam version on GoG. I also have Steam version of the game+DLC and it works fine for me too. I'd rather the GoG release. GoG makes clean games/installers. I always try and buy here first. I do hope it gets resolved.

Same problem for me. Stuck with the "loading..." screen on my two different pcs (Win 8.1 & Win10).

Thank you but in the end I asked for a refund, it's unacceptable that it doesn't work without Galaxy.

The website version is now showing 1.0.9145.27426 for both Gloomhaven and the Jaws of the Lion DLC. I cannot confirm whether it works because I'm still in the process of downloading but the numbers match now at least.
