I've recentley bought Giants, and I've run into some pretty severe mouse Acceleration problems.

when I started the campaign, I noticed that if I moved the mouse slowly the screen barely moves.
ajusting the mouse sensetivety made it a bit better, but it's still not very playable
my first thought was that it had somthing to do with mouse sensetivety, but it looks more like extreme case of mouse acceleration

so, is there somthing I can do to disable mouse acceleration?
I'm running the game on windows 8, wich may be the cause

Thank you in advance

Ditto. Unplayable. If I max the mouse sensitivity in the configuration menu it responds, but exaggerated. Every setting below seems to make it really slow to respond unless I sling the mouse around.
I'm thinking about buying Giants, but I don't currently have it.

I've read about a 1.5 patch that fixes a lot of bugs and makes several improvements. I think it's a community patch. I would try that.

The GOG version is 1.4.
There's negative mouse acceleration. This game was released on PS2 IIRC, and negative acceleration makes it bearable to play F/TPS on consoles.

I realize this is an old post, but I was playing the game at my brother's house and figured out that the fix for the mouse acceleration issue is to use the unofficial 1.497 BETA patch and the "-framelimit" launch parameter it supplies. Simply raising the mouse sensitivity or using the patch as-is does *not* really manage to fix the problem enough to be tolerable. Using something like "-framelimit 100" does though. It still isn't perfect, but it's waaaay better than without it.

To do this, you need to download and install the unofficial 1.497 BETA patch, located here: http://www.giantswd.org/?file=31&search_name=1.497&search_author=&search_type=&search_db=&sort=Name&Submit=Search

Then create or edit the shortcut for Giants, and in the Target field add "-framelimit 100" (without quotes, and using whatever number you want to limit the framerate to). Example:

"C:\blahblahblah\Giants ・Citizen Kabuto\Giants.exe" -framelimit 100

This made the game completely playable and enjoyable for me, so hopefully it'll work for the rest of you (try lower numbers if it's still quirky). That unofficial patch is amazing as it is since it fixes a ton of stuff, is multiplayer-compatible, and increases the graphical quality.

Hope this helps you all!

Thanks Sickboy for posting this! Another way (if you have an Nvidia card), is to use NvidiaInspector -> Driver profile settings (icon next to "Driver version"), select the Giants profile and set "frame rate limiter" to whatever your monitor does, e.g. 60fps. Tools for AMD cards like RadeonPro might do something similar.

This needs to be stickied!! (FWIW, set my framelimit down to 70, in case any of the internal simulation goes wonky at higher levels, but left a bit of headroom over 60 in case something funky w/ VSYNC.

Radeon 7850 / Core i5 3570k at 4.2Ghz.
I'm having this problem, and the unofficial patch is showing up as a virus to Norton. Is there any other way to fix it? Another way to lower the frame rates? Here are my PC specs that I remember.

GTX 660 ti video card.
i7 Processor
9 GB of Ram
Windows 10.
I found that forcing Supersampling AA with Catalyst Control Center helped with mouse control, Multisampling and Adaptive Multisampling did not however.
Cool, I'll try that out, well, the Nvidia version anyway.

Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou...

The game was almost unplayable, and setting the framelimit on the unofficial patch didn't help a bit for me.

However, forcing AA, cranking it up to 8xEQ, and setting the method to SuperSampling in the Radeon Settings app made a huge difference to how the game controls.

Also, not a jagged edge in sight...
Patch solution worked perfect. Put my framelimit to 60 though.
Other solution simple !

download patch 1.5 here giantswd.org

in option game use Direct 3D 7

enjoy :)
I'll have to try cranking the setting all the way up then. I can't get the patch, my AV automatically quarantines it. The web form for a dispute is also down somehow. :/
I cranked up the Nvidia settings to max in the control panel, I still get this issue. I can't figure out anything to do with the game either. It's basically unplayable.
