djnforce9: .... On the other hand, I don't see why it must appear every time you exit rather than just once or twice.
Well, my first post on the matter may have been seen as a rant - well it was meant to be.
After more consideration on the matter, I would concede that having the screen can a least appeal to people's conscience to help support developers to make these games that we enjoy.

I agree with dfnforce9 that after one or two times, the exit screen disappearing would have been more acceptable.

Revenile: I'll say this, I did download the game to see what it was like, being very low on spendable funds for games, I gotta know that I'm going to like it. However two things occured after installing (the version I ended up with was from gamer's gate, as that version has a link to their site.)

I played for 10 minutes, just ten, then shut it off. I was so amazed with what the devs did to a game series that was originally a repainted Mario game due to Nintendo saying no to the devs who made the tech demo, so they changed the presentation and levels a bit and released it at the Giana Sisters, and now we have this game that really gives them an identity, and I had to buy it after my ten minutes of trying it out. The screen that popped up asking me to buy only made me want it more that the devs were awesome enough to basically say "we hope you enjoy the product and if you didn't buy it, consider doing so or donating." Very few devs would do that today, but yeah, I bought the game thanks to that screen and how great the game is, even waited for the sale to end to pay full price for it.
It was really kind of you, and as I said on my first message, it's a clever move on the devs. People that pirate games so they can "demo" them will get a remainder that, hey, the game isn't free. And if you enjoyed the game, you should pay for it, of course.

But after paying for it (Pirating it on the first place, or not), having the screen popping up once and again asking for it is just wrong.

BTW, I don't want to turn this thread into a "The game is still going to be pirated, so the screen needs to stay", or a "You want the screen removed because you pirated!" or something like that. I payed for the game. I don't want to be bothered anymore about paying for it. And I think I'm not being unreasonable on my demands...
No, you're not being unreasonable. It's an annoyance, certainly.

I'd expect to see it in a demo or a time-limited version, sure, but in the paid-for game files? Really?

Mind you, Black Forest released that 1.1.0 patch on GOG (no details of what the patch was, though), and have said 1.0.1 is out (which... is a downgrade?! What?!). So yeah. Not entirely sure they've quite grasped the idea of dealing with consumers.

I'm not 100% sure that it is the case here, but this may be simply a confusion between GOG and Black Forest using different version numbers (one for the GOG installer, another for the game itself).

That's the case with the game Deponia for instance : GOG has a 1.0.1 update, which gives you version 1.3 of the game...

Bizarre. And to make things more confusing, the Giana Sisters 1.0.1 patch shows up as 2.0.0 on GOG.

Seriously, this is pretty dumb.
nvm

JKing: I'm sure there's a pirate version out there which removes the nag screen. ;)

granmacco: That line remembered me of the times when we used no-cd cracks to play our legally bought games without having to insert the disc on the tray. How ironic.
I still do that (for games that require a disc check), keeps the discs clean and scratch-free. Also saves the hassle of swapping discs.
high rated
I've noticed that, even if you run the GSGameExe_DX9.exe directly, the launcher is what provides that nag screen. (I'd assume it's the same for the DirectX 11 one, but I'm running it in Wine, which doesn't do DirectX 11 yet)

Therefore, just rename GSLauncher.exe to something else and run the GSGameExe of your choice directly and it'll kill off the nag screen because the game EXE can't find it. (I renamed it to GSConfigurator.exe so I could still use it to adjust things but I also confirmed that renaming it to GSLauncher.exe.off works too.)

...I'm glad I thought of trying that. I was just gearing up to write some kind of wrapper which would launch it, then lurk in wait for the nag window to show up.

I agree that it is very annoying and if I pirate stuff like that and get such a message every time I quit the game something like this is usually a reason for me to not buy the game even if I would have otherwise.
Not getting rid of the AD is a mistake or a shame of GOG.

I buy this game too. Game is wonderful, but the annoying AD window ruined the game.

I hope GOG will replace this one with a true DRM FREE and AD FREE one.
I have to agree, I also find this popup very annoying and I hope it will be removed soon.

I can't follow the argumentation, that such a popup is "okay", since the game is offered DRM-free and someone could share it illegally. Saying this means every game here on GOG could have such a popup, in case the game might be shared somewhere.
Very strange I was playing this yesterday and I do not recall seeing this window on quitting the game.

Only reason I can see is that I run it under Windows in Bootcamp on a Mac.

Hi , I bought it yesterday and still not played yet . But I read this and find too annoying . Anyone could report it to support team ? I think they are not reading here everytime .

EDIT : I messaged support team and here the response :

Personally, I believe the message is fair, however there's no point in seeing it all the time.
I'll see if we can get an updated version with some sort of "do not show this again" option. I'll ask our product guys to contact the game's devs, if that's possible.

Those are good news. Let's hope they can manage to get the "do not show again"-option included, which in my opition seems to be a fair solution.

A "do not show again" option would be good, but for now, ssokolow posted a great quick fix (Thanks!). Renaming the launcher removes the pop-up (on DirectX 11 too).

(Computer > Local Disk > GOG Games > Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams > Launcher > Rename GSLauncher to GSLauncher2)
