I figured it would be nice to have a hints request thread. I just started playing this game last night and it's a lot of fun but I have some questions:

1) How do you get skills? It seems like I have enough points but I can't unlock any of them?

2) Where is the old cell of the two mice? Trying to the blacksmith's hammer but I can't find the old cell.

Thanks.
The cell with the two mice is not far from the blacksmith's location. If you look toward the well in the courtyard, you would just have to take the large double doors to the right of the well. But you would probably get spotted by the two rats patrolling on the other side.

You have better chances taking a detour: Behind the well in the right corner of the courtyard stands a wooden scaffold and near it lies another, smaller door. Enter the door and go upstairs. Go right (i think) and you should find an alcove with a book stand and a chest to hide and save. Be careful, one of the patrolling rats from the smaller courtyard can spot you when entering the alcove. Follow him, then drop left off the stone stairs.

Then work your way across the small courtyard to the cells. There are three rats to watch out for in this location. The one you followed, one who patrols the cells and one who guards the large gate leading outside, to the left of the stairs where you are standing now.

Thank you for the detailed description but I think you are describing where the two mice are now. I have already found them and they want me to get the blacksmith's hammer from a secret compartment in their "old cell." It's this old cell that I am looking for. I went all the way back to the dungeon where I started the game to look for it but I could not find it.
Oh, sorry. ;-)

Then i can't help you at the moment. I just reached the mice yesterday in my current playthrough. My last one must have been more than a year ago. I'll get back to you if you haven't found it before me.

No rush, it seems like it won't load my save games for some reason (I made another post about it). Hopefully v6.3 fixes the issue and they push it out on GOG as they did on steam already.
Yep, i got hit with the same issue after meeting Silas. None of my saves will load anymore.

But at least i can answer your question now. To find the mices old cell go back to your own cell, approach the sleeping guard and enter the corridor to the left. The second door reveals the stairs leading down to the old cell. Open them with the key the mice gave you.

Interesting, I went back there (the cell with the floor submerged in water, there is stool there, and a metal grating in the wall that looks like it leads to a sewer but can't be opened) but there was nothing I can do there? I tried looking all around but there was nothing I could interact with.
The mice should have told you about the iron rings in the cell and have given you a clue scribbled on a paper slip. Take the stool to the rings to interact with them.

Yes, I was aware of the clues they gave me. I remember trying to interact with the metal rings. Maybe I wasn't in the right postion. Once the "infinite load screen" issue is solved via a patch I'll go back and try again. Thanks for the hints.
Mh, strange. I just put the stool in front of each one and had no problem. Maybe another bug? You had the right idea anyway.
Now i have a question of my own: I'm currently collecting mushrooms (not the purple ones) for the Apothecary, am i supposed to find all of them in the small forest area with the obelisks? Or do have to look somewhere else as well? I know i have to look at night too, but having trouble getting the required amounts of each mushroom.

The forest is divided in tow parts. The first area is around the big tower. But the way to acces to the second part is blocked by rocks. In Early acces it was enough to speak to the blacksmith of the rocks and to visit the armory so that he gives the keys of the room in the armory which contains the explosives and thus to make jump the rocks to clear the access. In the second part of the forest you would find all the mushrooms you were missing. But in the final version of the game I still haven't found how to access this part because no dialogue is available on this subject with the blacksmith. Is it due to a bug?

Hello, my few questions for this thread (I'm about 4 hours in):

1) Burning purple banners - I didn't play early access, but I saw a let's play and there was a quest with burning the banners hanging everywhere. So now I started burning them as well, and even though I get some XP for it, there seems no quest associated with it. Is this a bug or is there no quest in the full game?

2) Northern slopes - Several quests (Apiary, Mushrooms, Thief's Whistle) send me to an additional outside area called Northern Slopes or Harbour, but I seem unable to find how to get there. Is this an area that can be only unlocked through the main quest? I already found the Far Tower and surrounding forest on my own while exploring randomly.

3) Keys - Are some keys generic and consumable? When I found the "footlocker" key, I thought yay, a way to unlock all the chests in the guards' quarters. But I only managed to open the first of many chests, and all the other footlockers still require the "footlocker" key...

From what I understand you won't be able to get to the northern slopes until you get a quest and a guard lets you out of the gate. That said, I'm not certain because I haven't ventured out yet.

Mushrooms-wise, it is possible to find all the nocturnal mushrooms around the tower as well as all but one of the daytime onees. (That or I just haven't found that one yet.)

THe footlockets are each opened with their own key. Guards carry keys to their own personal footlockers.

Thanks, that makes sense. I guess I got confused because the very first chest I tried worked, but that must have been a coincidence then.

What about the purple banners?
