JudasIscariot: I don't know...I mean the way she goes on and on about not being hooked up to the net all the time makes me think she's addicted. I will say I am no expert on addiction and the like, I am simply speaking from what I saw with actual addicts here and there in my life.
Because that's where she lives. Imagine you got robbed while in a foreign country and were stuck there without documents or money, and had to sit locked up in a police precinct as an undocumented alien because no one would take responsibility for your case or contact the consulate. How far from your mind would "screw this, I want to go home" be?
People aren't addicted if they want something or like something or can't shut up about something. The key element is disregard for adverse consequences, "I don't care that my life is falling apart". "I want my life back to normal" is exactly the opposite. If she went around exploding people's residences in exchange for a VR connection, then yes, that'd be really problematic.
