It's been a good while since we've seen an update for Galaxy 2.0, anyone know if there's anything on the horizon?

It's been 6 weeks. That's quite a long time.

So is it safe to call Galaxy 2.0 a dead project, yet?

I would not say that quite yet,but lack of communication from GOG staff and very few updates could lead to that.I just remembered Unreal Tournament 4 (or remastered).4 years of development and then just..cut

Ironic you say that a day before they announce Galaxy 2.0's upcoming release.
A email I just got says it will replace 1.2 shortly. Which really unless it has a big update is a bummer.

The email mentions 2.0 has 'all' the features of 1.2 yet there are numerous open tickets on the bug tracker last I checked about 2.0's lack of support for tags added in 1.2/on the website.

As others have said, unless they've fixed all these it's such an odd discrepancy since it's a prominent feature on both the client and site.

Looking at it again you're right but it does directly state that my favorite elements are present in v2, which isn't correct. It's clearly intended to persuade users ('rest assured') that what they may prefer about 1.2 is in 2.0, given this will be a forced update.

FWIW I already updated to v2 back when the last update was released to check the differences and filed a number of bug reports at the time. I'll be interested to see if those are fixed whenever the new version is released. Another aspect I prefer of 1.2 is the lighter UI which isn't able to be customized either (posted about this in a relevant topic in this sub-forum).

Email:

If you are currently still using GOG GALAXY 1.2 rest assured that your favorite elements are present in the new version.

I hope so. For instance command line arguments are easy in 1.2 but 2.0 has no place for them. you have to search for store pages from the library view. I;ve had to pin forums on the UI to keep up with my posts. the notifications don't work. I'm not interested in putting all my games from steam etc through Galaxy. I hope this isn't going to happen. It just feels rushed out the door to me. For my most trusted dev. I hope for more.

I hope there is something in store for us, after I got the email about the transition of everyone to v2 I wondered whatever happened to those things I was waiting to come from v1 to v2, like for example:

I can't fully see friends' activity, what I get is a cut down version with terrible UI that doesn't give me much info and the info I get is something I cant do anything with, like comment or like on it.
I can't like their activity, I can't even see their likes on my activity, my profile is nowhere to be found and activity feed is missing a lot compared to Galaxy 1 and the web version. My friends profiles are the same cut down versions, only able to see their achievements with whom I can't do anything at all.

So the social part is now available for v2 users only through the web (except those who have taken the extra step to install galaxy 2 in another folder and have v1 as well).

So I don't expect them to move everyone to a half backed Galaxy 2 without a major update ready to go.

What's ironic is that the announcement mentions nothing of an update to 2.0. Instead, it's forcing everyone from 1.2 to 2.0. So my comment still stands as true unless there's a super secret update to 2.0 that GOG has just been hiding from everyone for 6 months.

I feel like an update is heavily implied by the announcement for the upcoming replacement. I'm thinking that when they were talking about Galaxy 2.0 having 'all your favorite features from 1.2', they're add least planning on adding something when or before it happens.
Yeah, going to agree I feel very confused by this recent notice. I'm one of the ones who actually likes the program thus far and where they seem to be going with it, but I still have to admit it's still not actually anywhere ready for prime time as there's still a notable number of features missing both from 1.2 and their projected 2.0 roadmap.
