I had a look at the logs, and despite the fact that the Changelog seems new, the logs are still showing the previous version...

After relaunching Galaxy it proposed again to update, so I closed it and restarted as administrator, tried the updated but still the same error message, and no (or partial ??) update.

I downloaded the installer from the site... let's see what happens... I'll make some backup first...
I also can't install the new update (2.0.58). It fails.
Oh, man !! This is hilarious, the downloaded installer, during the install process gives an error that says this:

"Essential components needed to start GOG Galaxy are missing or incorrectly configured. If this continue, please reinstall the application."

I was expecting the installer to do a "clean" installation, but it didn't asked for the path where to install the client (I don't have it in Program Files), and actually updated my installed one.

In the end, except for the previous error, that now that I think of it, it's the one that comes out at every update, now seems correctly updated via the downloaded installer.

Checking for new versions tells that there are no new versions.
The Logs are showing that is running the last version.

Maybe one day I'll do a clean installation, uninstalling first the one I have, but this is not the day :D

It appears to be yet another faulty galaxy update (2.0.58). On my pc, the client is asking numerous times to update. I updated already many times to .58. And there is the other error of missing an important component at the start, every time i start galaxy, since the first time i tried .58 update.

The best thing is to wait (again) for an updated version of the update :) Before making some confusion and worsening the situation.

hi
i downloaded GOG Galaxy 2, then I ran the update but it wouldn't load. I got the error with C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\chrome_elf.dll it refused to move past this file. so I cancelled the upgrade and ran Cyberpunk but that to would not load just flagged an error.
so now I have a GOG that wont update and a game that no longer runs, and both these problems occured at the same time.
what do I do?????????

Snickersnack: The scroll bar for tags seems to have gone missing for me in the last update.
Same issue here as wont scroll past the bottom of screen no matter what resolution i change
Trying to update to GOG galaxy 2.0 (haven't used in a long time). All I am getting is failures to install .dll files and the helper.exe. Gave up.
After last [maintenance] galaxy stopped counting my ingame time and is displaying on some pages errors like: cant connect to service. But otherwise, everything is working OK. Any clues? (reinstall did nothing).
GOG Galaxy can not download BaldursGate 3 offline installer complete, onley 31 of 33 files.
The last two musst i downlode at the GOG.com site.
Then when I install the game and want to add it to GOG Galaxy, it doesn't find the game until I delete Galaxy and reinstall it.
Galaxy demands to rate games already rated. Sending rating fails therefore
ever since the latest update this crash happens happens for some reason. the galaxy client works fine. the galaxy helper exe seems to crash but doesn't affect the launcher.

you just installed Galaxy to c program files so helper doesn't have permission to run... this has nothing to do with the patch except it is treated as a new install by your system so isn't trusted

the fix is to install Galaxy [or anything else for that matter] outside the C program files folder... its in D Galaxy on my system but as long as its not on external drives or program files you should be fine
August 20: Added a prompt to ask for reviewing a game after finishing it.

August 26: Fixed the prompt which showed up constantly after 10 hours playtime.

How come no other program has a problem with being installed in Program Files? Is this software from the 90s?
