The current implementation doesn't let me add games that aren't in GOG's metadata bank. For example, freeware title Highway Pursuit is not searchable. This actually makes it hard to add a game like it, since it has to have a listing in the search to be added, and that's actually very limiting.

I thought this would've been one of the games to show up in the search, but apparently not. And I am willing to believe it's not the only one. What do you guys think?

Yes, unfortunately some games cannot be added manually this way. Maybe GOG could add a way to add those titles into the database?

Currently "the forum" thinks that igdb.com is a or the source for gogs database - I suggest you try to add it to that site and see if it pops up afterwards in the Galaxy clients searchfield (maybe this needs some time depending on how gog fetches that database)

Will try to add another game (S.i.m) this way. Thank you.
Seems as if "the forum" is right. The search on igdb shows the exact same results GOG does so no S.i.m or Sarah is missing here as well.

What's wrong with this site - it works every few minutes and then only shows a blank page ....

Mostly copy/paste what I wrote in the other thread...

There are bound to be games not covered by the database. They also can't expect us to keep adding missing games onto igdb, just so they can work with gog galaxy. Who's to say the metadata would be right anyway?

So, perhaps in addition to the approach adopted by GOG, they could also implement something more similar to Steam's "add a non-steam game...", which can be any executable. A "non-databased" game added like this would have a blank game view (and not enjoy stuff like filter by genres, etc), but at least the 'play' would work.
I would agree I'm glad this feature is here now, and it's nice and user friendly, but I really need it to be a bit more robust than this in the final build preferably. I would recommend maybe an Advanced button for doing more.

Not only should we be able to add entirely a game that's not available in the database, I like GOG but I also use a lot of Steam's services even on non-steam games. Such as the controller support and screenshot database, especially since I have a Steam Controller.

Since I have a Steam Controller, Steam absolutely must launch the game, non-steam game or not, or I can't use my controller, so I won't use it to launch those. Even for those not using a Steam Controller, Steam has a really robust ability to give you Alt-Tab to your gamepad (whether it's their pad or others) rebinding support for any game, and a desktop profile that can flip around and stuff so you could alt tab, look at a guide/discord or whatever and quickly flip back. These are really great tools, but if one wants to use these with GOG it's not really possible on non-steam games right now as Steam's overlay has to attach to provide those features. Right now I don't think anyone else has any pad tools this robust for doing desktop controls and all that stuff too so it's a really great feature to be able to support on things outside of GOG's own client.

That being said, the advanced manual adding I think should happen. Now in my use case, usually one would just use a Steam URL in a shortcut to launch a game Steam has set, which would fix this right up for me on non-Steam games. I was considering just setting non-steam games to "steam.exe -applaunch <number>" However, I don't think there's a way to save command line options. Without command line options I can't really make that happen, which made me think, oh right, we need command line options added! I don't think there's currently a way to do those. Further more, in my case especially I really would like a way to edit the launch command on imported titles as well, for the same reasons listed above really
If it uses igdb, then how come a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for PS4 doesn't show up? It has an entry on there and isn't a tiny indie game...

I can see the game is a 'standalone expansion' from another... for some reason, gog galaxy 2.0 has always had a problem with those (as reported before... for example: https://mantis2.gog.com/view.php?id=2570 ). Now we know it's not necessarily an issue with the database. If you have the time, it'd be worth it reporting this issue - mentioned the game explicitly).
You can technically add any game you want, Galaxy 2.0 doesn't verify if you're lying in your executable choice:

1a- If you don't care about the game's genre, randomly type something and select it
1b- If you care about the game's genre, then type the name of a game that's in Galaxy's DB that you don't have and don't plan to buy, but that's the same genre of the game you want to add
2- Mark it and select your game's EXE
3- Edit the game, remove the name of whatever you've selected and put your game's name
4- Change the pictures to something you can find on Google Image
5- Change the release date
6- Set category if desired

I am even unable to access igdb (for whatever reason it only shows me a blank page) - so I don't have the possibility to add another game.

Edit: I am so stupid. The name of the game I wanted to add is "Sara is missing" and not "Sarah is missing" and it is already in the database.

BFME2: The Rise of The Witch-king, all Age of Empires series expansions, Battlefield 2: Special Forces... a lot of big names are missing too.

Just went in there, sign ups are disabled. Shucks.

This could work! As long as you accept that the game you're editing will be the one to have its time tracked.

*changes game X to Highway Pursuit*
*two weeks later*

"Pooka, what do you think of game X?"
Can you add multiple games without having to reopen the pop-up each time? The UI is actually quite good, with the search autofill and a quick keyboard shortcut to add the currently highlighted game (tab, then enter), but doing this closes the pop-up, so you have to go to the mouse every time. It'd be so quick if I could at least bring up the pop up with a keyboard shortcut.
The database seems to not recognize games that can also be considered add-ons. XCOM: Enemy Within (PS3), New Super Luigi U (Wii U), and Metal Gear Solid VR Missions (PS1) don't seem to be there despite being standalone releases.

Really though, there needs to be an "add local game" or secondary option to bypass the database. I have a number of smaller games that are unlikely to be in any database.
I'm running into this issue as well. I tried adding No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 to the library. 2 works fine, but 1 apparently doesn't exist. There's an entry for the game in igdb.com and it isn't a standalone expansion.

I would also like the ability to add a game multiple times so that I can modify execution commands. As an example, I have Quake installed, but I also have the Quake 1.5 mod and the Arcane Dimensions mod installed. As it is right now, I basically did what @the_importer suggests, but I'd rather the system be built out to handle these issues rather than have to use a hacky workaround for every game/entry that isn't technically in the database.

...probably just the growing pains of using the beta of a really complex project.
