So the search string needs to be for anywhere in the title in case you can't remember a game's exact name...
And of course boolean wildcards don't work for searching.... COME ON GOG. This is an easy one to get right. Make the search look for the string anywhere in the title or give us boolean search options!!

Plokite_Wolf: Technically it does, but if the search form finds a title that "exactly" matches the searched words, it will list only that. For instance, if you type in "ring", you'll only get one game called Ring (actually of the full title Ring: The Legend of the Nibelungen), but if you type in "rings", you'll see a lot of Lord of the Rings games. Not in any way ideal.

DerBesserwisser: Currently "the forum" thinks that igdb.com is a or the source for gogs database - I suggest you try to add it to that site and see if it pops up afterwards in the Galaxy clients searchfield (maybe this needs some time depending on how gog fetches that database)
We probably need a FAQ entry on 'X game is not showing up in the Global Search so I can't add them manually', DerBesserwisser. :) Possible known reasons:
- The game is not in the database GOG is using.
- The game is in the database, but it can be classified as an 'add-on' or as a 'standalone release' for another game. GOG's search function somehow misses those (BUG).
- The game is in the database, but sometimes the search behaves oddly ("if the search form finds a title that "exactly" matches the searched words, it will list only that", credit to Plokite_Wolf). For example, to find the game 'No One Lives Forever 1', you have to start typing by its prefix 'The Operative'. I consider that a BUG.
There are workarounds and suggestions, BUT IN ALL CASES, I suggest you submit a bug issue if you can, stating the exact game(s) you're having trouble with. If the issue is that the game is not in the database (igdb), even if you know all its metadata, I recommend you do not add them yourself. Report it instead. They will get around to it eventually.

Interesting. I tried searching that and it didn't come up for me... I'll have to try again.

ahall1983: That being said, the advanced manual adding I think should happen. Now in my use case, usually one would just use a Steam URL in a shortcut to launch a game Steam has set, which would fix this right up for me on non-Steam games. I was considering just setting non-steam games to "steam.exe -applaunch <number>" However, I don't think there's a way to save command line options. Without command line options I can't really make that happen, which made me think, oh right, we need command line options added! I don't think there's currently a way to do those. Further more, in my case especially I really would like a way to edit the launch command on imported titles as well, for the same reasons listed above really
The executable doesn't need to be a .exe - a .bat file also works. So what I've done to work around the missing command line options: create a mygame.bat file for a (manually added) game which needs extra command line options, then link that batch file instead of the real exe in Galaxy.

Hm, what bothers me is (same as ahall1983) that manual game adding is limited to execuatable files.
1) I pick MOO2 game (or any other of course)
2) Select .lnk file which ends with DOSBOX\DOSBox.exe" -conf "..\dosboxMOO2.conf" -conf "..\dosboxMOO2_single.conf" -noconsole -c exit
3) Dosbox starts but does not apply the commands
I think it's time to create .bat files for DOSBOX ;(

Same for Half-Life: Opposing Force which is launched via "...\Half-Life\hl.exe -game gearbox".1) I pick MOO2 game (or any other of course)

Very interesting that Twitch has now bought the IGDB. Does their launcher also use it?
I wonder if Gog will keep to it now that is in their hands.
If anything this is probably a good thing.

I hit the lack of DOSbox support today, when I went to add some games I have on GOG, and have already had for years in DOSbox.
Support for manually adding games already set up in DOSbox is essential.
DOSbox games I have which I wanted to add to GOG Galaxy today:
Jill of the Jungle trilogy (each game bought separately on floppy disk, also have GOG copy installed)
TES Arena (TES 10th anniv free download, also have GOG copy installed)
TES II Daggerfall (TES 15th anniv free download, also have GOG copy installed)
Epic Pinball (Physical CD release, not yet added to my GOG library)
Overkill (game bought on floppy disk, not yet available on GOG)

Doesn't adding the executable with DOSbox parameters work? Support for manually adding games already set up in DOSbox is essential.
To stay more on topic:
Twitch has released its hostage of IGDB so we can now add new games to the database, and in extension to Gog 2.0, again.:)
Would be nice to know if the database is a temporary source for the launcher or if Gog is planning to use another one in the future.

Add to this that Galaxy 2.0 doesn't seem to pick up on everything from igdb. I added two games on igdb a week ago - both got accepted within hours. One of them showed up in Galaxy 2.0, one didn't. Checked again today, it's still not visible through "Add game manually" even though both games are fully accepted in the database over there.

Yeah, I can't get Witcheye to add, but igdb.com has it. So it being on igdb isn't a guarantee. In the case of Witcheye, it might be because it isn't listed as a PC game but only as a mobile game. That's my theory anyway. It's funny to me that it isn't listed as a PC game since I got the game from Twitch in the first place (they run igdb).
