I understand the push for the new brightest thing. I like GoG I prefer to purchase all my games through GOG. That said when it comes down to playing my game I do not want to be a free beta tester. I do not want to find the bugs and report them. I just want to play my games and have fun. Thankfully there is Gog Galaxy 1.X to help do just that.

So logging onto Gog I click Gog Galaxy and see nothing but 2.0. Open beta. Nice, not interested. I don't need to talk to people while I am playing my single player game. This is my decompressing time I want to get away from people. I am social 99.99% of the time. Polite, kind,an active listener, and a good friend. This is me time. I am being selfish and just want to play a game alone. No requests to join someone on a different game and not have my thirty minutes to a hour of mindless selfish fun.

So I head to https://www.gog.com/galaxy see the download, scroll through the long ad telling me to join in on the beta. Looking for my download. Do a few good searches and find the client everywhere except at GoG. I did eventually find that at the bottom of the same page at the bottom right hand corner is a link for 1.2 however as the entire page is for Gog Galaxy 2.0 nobody can tell visually this is actually the 1.2 client as it just says GOG Galaxy.

I was not about to give up however and looked even further using duckduckgo as google failed me and found it:
https://www.gog.com/galaxy?par=1

Finally I could download Gog Galaxy 1.2 for mac or or windows. It was a hidden page about GoG Galaxy 1.2.

I know how you feel, sir. I had the same issue finding 1.2. I have steam as well but i don't socialize when i am gaming, my main issue with GOG galaxy is the window size cannot be scled down. i don't want it taking up the entire screen. i uniinstalled it right after i downloaded a year ago, im OCD about that but now i am hoping maybe 2.0 will have this ability or i may just screw their app.

Instead you could have just scrolled down on every page of gog.com and find the download button in the right, bottom corner
Can totally sync with this thread.
Another thing - why something advertised as "lite" reqires 400mb of disk space...?
Hillarious...

Even though it still says GoG Galaxy 1.2, it actually now downloads a 2.0 variant.

Here are the links to some of the previous versions, for those still using Win 7.

https://content-system.gog.com/open_link/download?path=/open/galaxy/client/setup_galaxy_1.2.63.81.exe

Is there a 2.00 beta? There is link to anything on the gog galaxy page.

This was a thread that started in March when it used to be Beta. Eventually everyone had to migrate to the new launcher as the old one wasn't being supported (even though it essentially works). You're many months late.

It is still labelled as beta, BUT it isn't being TREATED as a beta. Opting out of beta testing still has Galaxy trying to forcibly update itself. There's a topic about how to prevent the auto-update here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/how_to_keep_galaxy_v12_client_and_avoid_the_forced_v20_beta_update

There's also basic instructions in the FAQ for how to do this.

I'm aware of that. The context of this thread was referring to the time when it was actually Beta and that 1.2 was about to be deprecated. The person I quoted asked about where to get 2.0 out of place in this thread (instead of making their own thread), which the obvious answer is at the bottom of the page, and that link is not relevant to their desire to check out 2.0.

Side note, You really don't need either unless they remove the feature entirely out of your account: You can download everything from your library on this site without either launcher. Even 2.0 is missing some features that you can't access your downloads from.

The point which was directly aimed at you, and which you seemed not to be aware of, is the fact that GOG still claim - while refusing to act in accordance with the claim - that Galaxy 2.0 is in beta and isn't a finished client yet. They're forcing it onto users even when the users have opted out of beta testing. But it's still in beta.

No, I am very aware of that. Very, very, very, very aware because I've been using it for months since the push when I have been a longtime user of the old client. Not my first rodeo.

I'm explaining, which you're failing to see, that this thread started in the "Before Times" when the circumstances of 2.0 was when it was on an "Open Beta" sign up phase, before they forced the push to stop supporting 1.2, as you could still use and download 1.2. By now, GOG has changed the site so that you can only get 2,0 so the OP didn't age well, and the person I was responding to was gravedigging the thread to ask where to get it.

I was responding to a comment which is only 3 days old, and was less than 1 day old when I replied to it. I was not responding to earlier comments in the discussion.

In the comment I was responding to, you stated NOT that Galaxy 2.0 IS in beta (the truth), but that it USED TO be in beta (not true). I was correcting that statement, because you APPEARED to not realise the truth about the situation. Whether the original posting of the thread was recent or not, the statement I was responding to was fresh and showing a lack of understanding of the CURRENT state of Galaxy 2.0, which is that it's still in beta, but being almost aggressively mishandled.

You also directly stated that "everyone" has migrated to the new launcher, though you clarified that the old one still works as well. In order to ensure the relevant information was available here for anyone interested who found this discussion, I provided a link to a source for relevant information about how to revert. I also noted, because it wasn't clear from your post, that NOT everyone using Galaxy is actually using the latest version in spite of the automatic update.

There really wasn't any need to attack me for this, but since we're there now... yeah. You walked yourself into that one.

You responded to ME, without regard for the context of the thread.

Again, you're speaking out of context of the thread and misunderstood what I was talking about with the nature of the beta. It's not about what's in the name. The nature of the situation is in fact that in spite of the launcher operating as beta, it's a launcher which GOG is pushing to replace the original one. You're the one trying to argue semantics.

I didn't say "everyone" had the launcher. I was talking about the migration. You posted a link to the guy who asked where 2.0 was, and you're pointing to the wrong version. Whoosh!

no, I responded to YOU, with regard for both the context of the thread, AND directly in response to what YOU said.

Well, apart from the fact that I was directly responding to WHAT YOU SAID, and addressing the part of WHAT YOU SAID that was false, while keeping the context of the thread in mind because that doesn't change WHAT YOU SAID in any way that prevents what I said from being relevant to it.

You said everyone had migrated to the new launcher. That is literally what you said. Go back and re-read it.

I replied to YOU and was addressing what YOU said.

I responded to you, with a correction about what you said, and you've been attacking me without actually providing any reason for doing so. I've started being less polite in my responses to you because you've been aggressive about responding to me. You've lost your right to continued politeness by not providing any in return.

I said *Eventually* everyone had to migrate to the new launcher because the context of what I was referring to was mentioned in the last part of my statement, which you disregarded entirely. You're addressing what I said and being completely ignorant at the same time.

Your "correction" was unnecessary as I have been telling you several times now you're missing the context of the thread.

Just stop.
