GOG, STOP WRITING FILES TO MY C:\. If I wanted you there, I would have selected that location in the install options!!!

As I have it installed on three clients currently without having any files wiritten to the root directory, this may be a a bug ?
Maybe reporting the issue through the proper channel ("report issue" in the client or mantis2.gog.com) is a good idea ?

Do you have a "program data" (no quotes) folder in your C:\? It may be hidden. If not then you're not on Win 10, and that may be the difference.

This is not Program files, or Program Files (x86). This is Program Data.

Where exactly does your install of Galaxy write data ? In root or in SystemDrive\"ProgramData" ?
If its the latter, better talk to Microsoft as this is the correct application behaviour recommended by Microsoft.

Steam, Origin, uplay, and Epic do not do this. This isn't an MS problem

Thats kinda common behaviour.

Many games put their savegames to your documents folder on C:\
Also lots of software writes data to the appdata folder on C:\ even though they were installed on a different drive.

Regarding your statement that Steam, Origin, etc don't do this... I got folders of all of them in my appdata folder mentioned above.

Of course it is, that Microsofts recommended place to store data that is not user specific. It is not wrong, just because other software developers do not adhere to it.
