Hiya all, I am experiencing all kinds of computer problems after I tried to download Galaxy yesterday.
I haven't played the games I had bought on gog.com for some time and wanted to play a game again, but I could only download the game when I first downloaded Galaxy. I did that.
Halfway through the download, all kinds of programs on my computer stopped working.
Firefox will not work anymore. I can start it up, but when I type in an address, nothing happens. I did get a brief message that a certain file was missing, but I wasnt quick enough to see which. it doesnt show that message anymore. Other online games I play (mostly LOTRO) will not function anymore. I can log on, but when I click on play, nothing happens.

I uninstalled Galaxy immediately, but that does not solve the many problems I am experiencing.

I uninstalled and reinstalled microsoft visual C++, but that doesnt solve anything.

Is this a known issue (I cannot find it on the forums, but have only checked a few pages) and does anyone know what is wrong?

I have Windows 11 installed.

Thank you for your time,
Mieke

Click the Download offline backup game installers section to expand it.
As far as I know, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is the only game that can't be played without GOG Galaxy, since it's a multiplayer-only online game.

GOG Galaxy has nothing to do with the other programs on your computer (I'm using Firefox right now, for example). Sounds like you have a firewall or router issue. I suggest posting on support forums to troubleshoot the problem.

Thank you for your reply. I have been able to fix the issue. For some reason certain Microsoft Visual C++ files had been removed from my computer.
I don't know if that had to do with the download, but it is fixed now.
I have an interesting problem too - after installing galaxy my firefox is messed up. It seems it did something to the defaults, my fonts all look weird and don't resize properly. This all seems very very strange and feels mega paranoid, but galaxy is the only new thing I have installed in the last couple of weeks and the effects were noticeable right away. Something is stinky here

One thing has nothing to do with the other. Refer to the Firefox support forums for help.

the reason they get removed is Windows 11 sees them as out of date... welcome to Microsoft taking control

Nah, I got several versions of C++ installed on my Windows 11, works like a charm.
Microsoft does not intervene.
They even offer a download to install several old versions as a package.
