Lucian_Galca: Has the latest version of Galaxy 2.0 brought back command line arguments for games (Quake, etc.) yet?
avatar
FrAnubis: Sadly no.
Much thanks. I guess i'll continue to wait before updating to 2.0.
Hi! Where can i find a comprehensive guide to update from the current 1.2.64 galaxy vversion to the 2.0 one? Is just run the installer and it will update my current version or other action is needed? Thanks.

No action needed, just run the Galaxy 2.0 setup
Is is possible to launch / use galaxy 2.0 portably? Like all settings and configs in one folder. I want to have it, as well as all my games, on an external drive

Not without a lot of work

Galaxy has three known place for files in order to work

- the install Folder
- %programdata%\Gog.com (contains the library and integrations)
- %appdata%\local\gog.com (configuration files and integrations)

One would need to do the same stuff as the guys/gals from portableapps.com

An easier way maybe be .- if you only "hop" between a few systems, where you have admin-rights - to use hard links:

Steam seems to have a problem with installed games. Trying to launch Destiny 2, but GoGG2 tells me I need to install it, tries to launch steam and then does nothing. Have tried all the fixes from around July until today and nothing has worked so far. Just for reference, Steam and Destiny 2 are both installed properly. Steam beta is enabled. System/OS is about 4-5 years old, just updated. Problem has not been tested on a fresh install. (waiting for new hardware before I even attempt that)

Also, another question: Is there a way to combine the game time from Destiny 1 and Destiny 2?
It's "kinda" the same game, and I'm running my "same" character.
A section about "Security" would be nice here. I think this is the most important question that people should be asking.

Feel free to make suggestions, and I will try to add it

You could probably start with, "are community integrations 100% safe?", "No". I believe that people are being blindly mislead on the security of these community integrations because of GOG's marketing campaign.
This is not exactly a question but I guess there's no way to start Steam games without launching Steam's launcher, right?
I mean I understand the limitations of having GOG Galaxy 2 integrate everything but waiting 5 minutes just to have a second launcher being executed is still a drag. I completely understand if there's no way around it.
Other than that, I'm loving GOG Galaxy 2.0 so far. I just wish I didn't have to have two launchers running at once.

Unless its one of the rather few titles on Steam that is DRM-free, yes you will need the steam client as GOG can't just annul Steams DRM
Okay, I've been trying to - for about and hour now - figure out what Updates everyone is talking about. The new big friends list and all and all.

I have no idea what is meant with EUPHORIA, ATLAS or even ARGUS.

I get NUMBERS. Please use numbers? Even when you're talking about whatever nickname the version has? My version is at 2.0.12. BETA from December 18th. This is ARGUS? Maybe? I don't know, it doesn't say? Help?

As far as I can tell only bigger updates that add features are getting a name (for whatever reason, I certainly prefer just numbers).
You can somewhat get where you are via the Galaxy Client > Cog Menu > Whats new. There you can see all the named updates with Month and Year which you can compare with the Changelog (don't ask why this can't be done with one dialog).

Some questions here:

I want to organize my games but didn't find a folder system inside galaxy 2.0. Instead I read something about tags, but I wonder if these tags are public? Don't know if it's helpful when I tag games with "won't play again"

I was also looking for something like a "review" function for games which aren't on gog. Or at least a "note" function where I can write down my thoughts on that game. Am I missing something?

Last but not least I'm missing a feature to wishlisht games which aren't on gog. The only way I found was adding them to my library and add a "wishlist" tag to them, which didn't make much sense to me.

As you can see I'd love to use galaxy 2.0 as my ultimate game organizing tool, am I misunderstanding the concept of galaxy 2.0?
