I think this is normal.
My folder is currently taking 120GB of space, but I only downloaded 59GB on preload and 9.7GB on day zero patch, So the rest is game decrypting/inflating which takes a lot of CPU/disk time.

Pre-order games often preload encrypted as to protect leaks ahead of time, the way I see it... we might see at release time a small download with launch binaries to attach to the decrypted and deflated content.

Exact same thing here, I think if we just let it hang it will be good in an hour or two.

I have an 1800x which is bad for gaming but still great for multithread workloads like inflating and decrypting, I just finished applying my patch (went from 55 to 100 in like 10 minutes).

Just take your time. Release is not for 2 hours.

Yea just let it hang, mine just completed after a few hours.

Yeah I'm just going to let it hang where ever it wants as I have been doing this for 3.5 hours now (3rd attempt)

Mine was stuck at 92% with HDD usage at 100% for about half an hour, and then it completed. Still make sure that before you click "check for updates" you have at least 120gb of free space on your ssd/hdd. The update is only 9.7gb but the game apparently takes up 120 gb during the patching process (it's down to 60 gb after that).

Mine is fixed!

Actually I saw my folder was also marked as 120GB, even though I didn't have 120 GB free in total. I had 59GB game + 9.7GB patch and 40gb free (so ca. 110GB in total). So I freed up another 20GB and it finished 5 min after and folder size went back to 59GB. Might be worth a try if you have anything to free up

I have over 400gb free space. I was getting stuck at 92% (left it for 1 hour and was same) but now I get stuck on 56% and it took 10mins to go from 56% to 57%. Very strange

Having a similar issue with "Apply patches". Stuck at 56% and hasn't moved for like...20-30 minutes.

Mine was stuck at 56% for like 10 minutes, for some reason it got faster after updating my GPU drivers, though now it's been stuck at 92% for a while. Maybe it's because of everyone trying to preload the game and downloading the patch at the same time?

The ONLY solution seems to be is just leave it alone and let it very very slowly, do it's work. I do not recommend cancelling etc.

It started progressing again, guys. 82% right now. Will update if stuck again.

Well, just let finish installing the update, mine it stayed for like 20 minutes and out of nowhere got complete

Have 1.81 terabytes of ssd free, and another 1 terabyte on my regular hard drive free, and it keeps getting stuck at 92% for about an hours time, then ultimately fails over and over.
