spadevsky: Same problem here, cannot update. I am not reinstalling the application in fear of loosing my custom-made executables for added games.

Any chance of getting this fixed?
Me too. I learned that lesson before. All your hacks are gone.

Falran: Hey everyone,

Some of our users are indeed experiencing difficulties with updating their GOG GALAXY. Rest assured, the appropriate team is currently investigating the issue.

If you are one of the affected, please turn off GOG GALAXY completely, by going to the top left corner's cogwheel and pressing "Exit". Next please make sure that GOG GALAXY (or any related processes) aren't still running in the background (if so, close them by selecting "End task"). You can do this via Task Manager (use the combination of WIN key+R and type: taskmgr)

Next, please download the GOG GALAXY Webinstaller (the big DOWNLOAD button).

Lastly, please "install" GOG GALAXY by using the Webinstaller. This will make the installer update your GOG GALAXY and overwrite any possible damaged files.

Once you turn GOG GALAXY back on you should have the newest update available and no changes will be made to your games or library (you won't have to re-import the games etc.).
Will I lose my tags organization doing this?

2.0.5.8 you mean?
There was a patch note today that said this was fixed though I still get failure to update Galaxy when downloading it. Hopefully downloading a fresh copy fixes it.

This worked for me. BTW there are two big download buttons on the GOG Galaxy Website (one near the top and one near the bottom). I doubt it matters which one you use, though.

This worked for me after days of trying everything else. What I was misreading is that when opening Task Manager you have to browse background tasks for any apps which may use GOG. After I disabled those tasks I could install the new download and install the new version.
Tried updating twice, failed. And they said they fixed this. Oh well, there's always the next update. At this rate, this version will be in beta for 20 more years...

Just want to say I had the update problem, and this worked for me. Hopefully this gets fixed, so it can update normally instead of doing this workaround (which seems to work for some and not others).

Mendax1989: FIX THIS.
It is fixed, but you need to install the fix manually because ... well, the automatic installation fails.

After 15 tries of exiting the gog app completely, dling the webinstaller each time and running it with errors happening....the 16th attempt finally updated the app to 2.0.60.

I noticed in the changelog the "report a bug" option was removed. So now how is someone supposed to report a bug? A Vulcan mindmeld? Sending up smoke signals? The automated support chat bot is less helpful than a half-baked potato.

Yeah, as I wrote on other occasions, the best way to do it is actually to update right after Windows start since after quitting Galaxy some fils tend to remain locked.

That 'report a bug' thing irritates me as well.
They said it would be come 'easier' to reach support, not a even bigger pain in the ass.

I'm a computer nerd user from the ancient days of DOS 3.11 and before, so trying the webinstaller after a reboot or logout/login was an automatic thing to do. As I said, 15 attempts and still the install failed. The 16th attempt that finally worked I didn't even try a reboot. The Digital Deities probably just didn't like hearing a string of profanity flung at 'em.

GOG seems to not want to hear about issues with the client, removing the ability to report a bug is very counter intuituve.

The bug reports had been ignored for ages. Removing the menu item just prevents people from wasting their time.

"Get support" and "Share feedback" are as self-explanatory as possible. The only issue is the chatbot, and for that you have your answer in the thread your started.
