It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Same issue.
How can these patches be pushed out without testing them first?
Seriously, some random feature on some tab is not as important as making sure your software works in the first place...

StarSauron: Why not rolled back the update, till it works? Cant play my games.
1. Start File Explorer. Enter the following in the address bar. While GOG Galaxy isn't running, back up these folders.
%AllUsersProfile%\GOG.com\
%LocalAppData%\GOG.com\
2. Uninstall the current version of GOG Galaxy.
3. Install setup_galaxy_2.0.55.99.exe which is the last version known not to constantly crash in the background. Do not launch it at the end of the installation.
4. In the %AllUsersProfile%\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\ folder, rename GalaxyUpdater.exe to something else, like GalaxyUpdater.exe-disabled.
5. Restore the above folders to their original locations if you don't want to lose your settings and bookmarks.
6. If you have games installed, start GOG Galaxy, click the cogwheel in the top left, then choose Add Games & Friends, then Scan Folders for GOG Games.

Dev0_NZ: it doesnt fix the current issue, i did a clean install of it and still get issues

xV_Slayer: GOG Galaxy has been broken since the 2.0.56 update. Can you please fix it?
the way gog seems to operate, they probably couldnt pay me to fix it for them
I was hoping the last time this happened they would do better testing before pushing it out. It's failed on all three computers in my household. :(

Also, can I say, for a DRM FREE STORE having to have GOG Galaxy installed and working to play a game that requires the launcher isn't DRM FREE. Stop tying everything to GOG if you can't get the client stable!

Update won't install at all for me. I'll wait for the next version.

There's no game that requires GOG Galaxy to run, aside from Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, which is online-only multiplayer. It sounds like you're unaware after installing a game via GOG Galaxy, you can go to the installation folder and directly launch the shortcut or executable there.
I installed playnite until its over. It picks up all gog games installed (Only using for Gog) it actually does what gog has been trying to do. Integrates all launchers if you want. I like it it's light on ram also
I completely uninstalled hoping that would fix it but nope. That automated help thing is useless too. I can't give you programdata with program uninstalled.
Same problem here. Update always fails. Got the "essential components missing" message. Multiple tries over multiple days. Tried to simply download the latest version; that failed, too.

Come on, get this fixed.
Same problem here, cannot update. I am not reinstalling the application in fear of loosing my custom-made executables for added games.

Any chance of getting this fixed?

2. Uninstall the current version of GOG Galaxy.
3. Install https://cdn.gog.com/open/galaxy/client/2.0.58.4/setup_galaxy_2.0.58.4.exe
Doing the above but installing the latest client directly did the trick.
I just made sure to suspend my antivirus for five minutes whilst it was installing.
No problems other than the checking for updates option doesn't do anything.

The only issue I'm currently seeing once the latest client is running is the following.

Faulting application name: GalaxyClientService.exe, version: 2.0.58.4, time stamp: 0x63d12374
Faulting module name: PocoNet.dll, version: 1.12.2.0, time stamp: 0x634404e3
Exception code: 0xc0000005

Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\PocoNet.dll

Typically this depicts an access violation of some kind.

The same thing plus another BEX fault I been getting since the update.
Only reporting in to say that I'm having the same problem.
FWIW, I did a manual install of the latest client, and it seems to have worked. Didn't uninstall previous, just exited Galaxy, went through task manager and closed any Galaxy processes and did the install.

Then I did a 'check for updates' and it said I'm at the latest version. Not bragging, just sharing there's some hope :)
