Good morning, I will speak, I will present the text in two languages for Spanish and English speakers.

The truth is that this update is having its problems but like every platform every time it updates. Both ubisoft, origin, steam and epic have sometimes had problems, either due to their servers, a code error or a user's own error when installing dirty or adding things that shouldn't be. In short, I think that if you have bet like me on this pitcher, then his thing is to be patient. What catches my attention is the free publicity for ``Playnite`` and the moderators do not come to order, perhaps you are joking but it seems impolite to do that in the forum of a platform that has little or nothing to do with it. with the latter. So excuse me for those of you who are joking and what you don't have to look at, it's common sense not to step on someone else's grass and being obfuscated doesn't give you the right to pay for your frustration, we don't have any here 3 years old.

On the other hand, I have also had problems with Steam but I suspect that it is not the installation since I have done the deletion of the application and installation after each restart and it goes 3 times. So the problem will come from the servers.
For me the best GOG feature is the ability to se a unified view of my game library so that I don't buy duplicates in different platforms.

If that is not going to be maintained by the GOG team, I'm sad to say that Steam is far better as a game launcher, and I see no advantage in using GOG galaxy now.
Seconding the opinion that without Steam integration, Galaxy's usefulness is GREATLY reduced. Hopefully someone steps in and either updates the plugin, or GOG does something themselves.
Playnite is not bad at all but I used it years ago and I was happy to switch to GOG Galaxy. The main reason is the cloud sync of game stats, particularly of manually added ones (ownership and playtime), whereas Playnite accounts are offline (only with store integrations). I've seen Sharenite but it's not the same as those stats can't be imported in another device.
I hope this eventually gets fixed. I have installed and organized all games in Playnite, it all there now, but Playnite is more of a game launcher. I use GOG Galaxy just to see all my games in different stores (1500+ games now) and it is better in linking games and hiding duplicates. Playnite has a plugin for this, but GOG Galaxy does this better.
As with many here, the constant upgrade issues and the lack of steam connectivity is making GOG Galaxy 2.0 a serious chore. I'll be shelving it until they actually put some proper resources into maintaining it and the integrations with other platform/stores. It's a real shame because I'd love for it to work and not to have to go elsewhere like Playnite, but as it stands it's just not functional.
Ufff, glad to see, that the issue is not with me.... How about a comment from CDPR? Are you working on it? Hopefully these are not the first symptoms of galaxy ramp down.
Yep, Steam Connectivity is toast. Makes GOG Galaxy pointless.

I actually prefer not to have it:)
I have on both about 200+ games. And some of them i bought in both stores to support the devs.
Also since the search function is implemented in both systems it takes about 3 seconds to check if you own a game on either GOG, EPIC or Steam or whatever else there is.
Technically speaking this seems to block new installs of GOG Galaxy, not existing ones. So vast majority of people are not aware of this yet. But it definitely puts a hard clamp on anyone trying GG from now on.

Quick fix for steam offline bug: https://github.com/FriendsOfGalaxy/galaxy-integration-steam/issues/159#issuecomment-1489032765

I was able to make it work somehow by two small fixes in %LOCALAPPDATA%\GOG.com\Galaxy\plugins\installed\steam_ca27391f-2675-49b1-92c0-896d43afa4f8\steam_network\backe nd_steam_network.py

Search for the file. Is sometimes in a different folder.

1. _get_websocket_auth_step(self) function (line 186): comment out or delete exception raising and return success operation code instead (timeout value was also decreased to 20 seconds, not sure if it has affected something):

async def _get_websocket_auth_step(self):
try:
result = await asyncio.wait_for(
self._websocket_client.communication_queues["plugin"].get(), 20
)
return result["auth_result"]
except asyncio.TimeoutError:
return UserActionRequired.NoActionRequired
#raise BackendTimeout()

2. _handle_two_step(self, params, fail, finish) function (line 229): explicitly return Authentication object instead of self._check_public_profile(). Without this edit the plugin shows warning "2FA authentication failed, falling back to public profile" but still imports Steam library.

if result != UserActionRequired.NoActionRequired:
return next_step_response(fail, finish)
else:
self._auth_data = None
self._store_credentials(self._user_info_cache.to_dict())
return Authentication(self._user_info_cache.steam_id, self._user_info_cache.persona_name)

3. Restart GOG Galaxy and re-enter Steam credentials.

It works for me. All credit for Allexedge . I only post it here.
Fantastic, thanks!
Thank you for posting the solution.

It is one directory higher. But the solution works. Just ignore the last folder in the path and go one folder higher.
Thank you, it works!
Thanks for sharing the fix, it was driving me insane!
