jesfest: Have the same problem, so I decided to try again just now. It connected, it imported my library, it imported my friends.

I exit out of GOG Galaxy and re-open it. tells me it's offline again. That's pretty strange.

I knew it was going to be someone or a new group of people doing an althogether different plugin for this to be fixed.
I have problems controlling my backlog from steam, but now I see it has grown by 50 titles since the old plugin stopped working lol, I have to tackle that now.

Thanks a lot!, this, finally, worked.

arttrooper2: Same. My steam "connects" but then says - Offline retry.
I've searched and implemented various fixes from GitHub to try and resolve the issue (suggested by others in the community). No success
None of them have worked.

Could someone make a patch/hotfix for this? Thank you! :)

Ryan9245: The Steam plugin isn't an official GOG integration and the community dev maintaining it left the project, so patches/updates might not be coming soon, if at all.
What's keeping them from making it official? What makes an integration plugin official? Just someone at GOG working on it? I also noticed the Origin plugin still says Origin but still works completely fine with the EA App, and the PlayStation one is completely gone? I just updated from version 1.0.40.11 so I missed out on a lot but sheesh.

The key difference is that Microsoft and Epic have been willing to work with GOG to provide official integration for their services, which is why the Xbox and Epic plugins are maintained directly by GOG. They won't get into any trouble for that, since they've effectively got the green light from those publishers to do so and there are no hacky workarounds or semi-official API's involved to make it all work.

The other plugins are very much in a grey area, which is why GOG probably chooses not to host them directly. As long as they're developed and hosted by the community, it's unlikely the associated companies will take any action, but if GOG built them into Galaxy and made them "official" that might very well change.

I would be most surprised if GOG didn't make at least some attempts to establish an official relationship with Valve and the other companies for most of those plugins. So the fact that they ended up as community plugins means GOG probably got turned down. If Valve doesn't want to play ball, there's not much GOG can do about it.

sunwind: Just installed Galaxy today, EA worked fine, I had to do the consts.py edit found in the other thread to fix ubi, but I can't get steam to connect and I can't find any fixes like the consts.py one for ubi. I tried clearing the app data / cache etc as suggested in other topics about this across the internet but no dice.

Thanks
At this point, since GOG does not seem interested in supporting their own client, I am going to probably just delete it and stop using it. They had a good thing going but since they choose to ignore their own customers and the problems we have with it, I guess uninstalling it is the only option left.
The service was discontinued. GOG did it quite silently I'm afraid.

What are you talking about? Galaxy installs the plugins for you, they're very much official part and parcel of it.

As for adopting this new plugin, GOG could do it exactly the same way they're doing it now. But it might take a little bit of working hours to test it and integrate it into the installer properly, and that's unlikely to happen. Just look at the Ubisoft debacle, fixed by users ages ago but fix is not incorporated into galaxy installation.

Personally, I'd jump back from playnite the second Steam started working again.
I have same problem with galaxy's connection to the Steam: Offline Retry.
Retrying does not help at all.

Also, there is very similar issue with Ubisoft Connect. Whenever I try to connect, I get in and after few seconds, I get "Connection Lost" instead.

GOG has coded a search function and one-click install process into Galaxy for community plugins, yes, but the actual files are downloaded from this Github page here: https://github.com/FriendsOfGalaxy

GOG neither own nor operate that account. In fact right now no one seems to have access to it. It seems to have been abandoned about 2 years ago, which is the reason for all of these issues.

Galaxy completely obscures where it's installing its plugins from, so I was just confused at first as to why GOG can't just... apply these fixes. The only reason I learned about the existence of that Github account is because there are some plugins that aren't on there, and thus not "searchable" within Galaxy, but I came across some mention of their existence on the forum - and from there I fell down the rabbithole of "OMG, all of these integrations are just an open-source Github project that isn't managed by GOG at all?!"

Don't think for a moment that I don't believe this entire situation is stupid. I've simply had a few years to get over my astonishment. XD

Edit: the good news is that GOG has taken notice of the efforts by ABaumher to fix the Steam plugin and reached out to him. So there is some hope that Galaxy may be updated in the future to retrieve these plugins from a different Github repository that is actively maintained (GOG Nebula), so that plugins can automatically receive updates through Galaxy again.

Unpossible! Next thing you're going to say is that they're somehow going to compensate him for his work??

Anyhow, it's git, they could have forked the plugins at any point to put in fixes to the 1-line Ubisoft problem for example. I've been testing the AB's plugin for a few days, it seems to do the job just fine as far ask basic functionality goes, no idea about achievements and all that jazz.
Good job breaking the Steam integration with the new update that adding some stupid What To Play Next.

Thankfully there's a kind enough user that got a fix up on github so the integration is functional again.
Not sure when it started, but recently I've been unable to connect to Steam even when all the credentials are provided.

I'm glad that they fixed the Uplay connect, but now they broke the Steam connect.

I saw those messages above saying the 3rd party plug-ins got fixed? but are those files safe to use ? seems sketchy IMO.
GoG Team needed to change the main repository for its third party integrations, that "FriendsOfGalaxy" account its been innactive since 2021... most of the bugs are already fixed and ready to merge but... there's no one to approve it and merget it
