So is there anyway this can be fixed without downloading python and going into files and editing code?

Yes, a pseudo-fix, it involves reading the posts in this thread. Latest two days is enough.

Silvaheart: I switched to Playnite and did not regret it! So much cool stuff to do. You can organize your game lib so much better. You can configure it in many ways and even use Add-Ons, which bring in some really cool functions.

Bye bye, Galaxy, sad to see you go. Welcome Playnite, you're my new friend :-)
Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. I have around 1.5k games so it's quite hard to find what I would like to play in multiple libraries.

EDIT: Whoa ! Playnite is awesome !!!! Thanks a lot !

sharpnova: I'm in the same boat.

GOG Galaxy is such an unreliable finicky piece of garbage.

But I've sunk hours into troubleshooting problems.

I haven't even been able to update in months because the mods here told me I'd have to reinstall GOG Galaxy to update.

I don't want to risk undoing all my work.

But now Steam just doesn't even connect. Rofl. Despite unsyncing it and resyncing it with a login and everything.

So... now I think i will ditch GOG.

I think I will ditch it and pray that someone else makes something similar.
Think about using "Playnite". It's Freeware, try it! You won't be disappointed :-)

I've also jumped onto the Playnite bus.

Thanks!

(EDIT: I'd tried uninstalling / reinstalling the Steam integration plugin, which made GOG lose all my Steam games. The instructions in this thread got my Steam games back - yay! But the plugin is still showing as offline - BOO.)

"Restartin GoG Galaxy after do this, you have to disconnect and reconnect again the steam integration to make it work",

Some fix.
This fix seems to work only partially for me. It will connect and start the importing process, but it gets stuck in that process with no games getting imported at all.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong here? I already tried to restart and reconnect/disconnect the component after putting in the file but nothing seems to work..

EDIT: nvm, it seems to have finally worked after like a 5th try lol

the fix allows you to connect steam, but you will notice, none of your states such as achievements get imported, so its not a total fix..
I really hope this gets fixed - I have Playnite too but there doesn't appear to be a way to merge game information together from different platforms like Galaxy does. :(

Well, that's not correct. You can install the Addon "DuplicateHider". This will merge the entries together. With the right theme you have little library icons as well.
I recently switched to Playnite because of the broken Steam import and I'm really happy with it. You have to use some add-ons, but then it's great.
The problem with DuplicateHider is just that, it hides duplicates. If I own the same game on GOG and Steam, in Galaxy it gets combined into one title so doesn't show up multiple times in the All Games filter, but it will show up in both libraries if I filter by either Steam or GOG. In Playnite, it will only show up in one system's library.

Thanks guy, but the clue is in the Add-on name. It hides information.
It doesn't merge game information the same way Galaxy does. If I look through all games and find Destiny 2 for example it will show my merged Playtime, Achievements etc. into one spot.
I can go to individual platform to find that information separately if I need.

I think Playnite is fantastic but I personally would only use it for emulation launching etc. but I am glad it works for what you need it to do.
A new GOG Galaxy update made the Steam connection fix stop working again.
I was a huge fan of Galaxy, but this was the last straw I could take. I also jumped off the ship and moved to Playnite - I will never be looking back. It's true that in the beginning you need to put some hours into configuring it, installing plug-ins, etc. Once you have it set up as you like, it's fantastic, robust and much more customizable.

Sad that this project has failed so hard, because I really loved it from the beginning. What is worse is that Galaxy was important for me when it comes to buying games here, so I am now less inclined to keep GOG as my go-to store. I know Galaxy is not (should not be?) the main selling point of GOG (DRM-free is), but I can't help feeling a bit cheated about the status of the launcher 4 years after it was announced.
