When I go to install a game, it lets me pick a folder, but when I select a different folder the pathway doesn't change. I want to install on a second drive, but it doesn't even let me install to a different part of my default drive. Does this need a registry change or something?

It does let me change the "other downloads" folder though.

I'd like to know this as well.

I wanted to move my game installation folder from my O/S drive to my games drive. I copied over the games folder, deleted GoG Galaxy and the hidden folders, reinstalled GoG Galaxy and then scanned the new location for them. So far so good.

I go into settings to change the install location but as the OP pointed out it won't let me change the destination, only the downloads folder. I'm pointing it to the same folder that I moved the games to.

Hope you don't mind me putting this in here I didn't see the need to make another thread about it.

I am not a Galaxy User, so there may be another answer to it, but if there ain't: Replacing the Galaxy Gamesfolder (Copying it first to your desired location) with a symbolic link (pointing to the copied folder) could be an option -> https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/mklink . Don't be uncertain because the document page is for windows-server, mklink is a regular shell command in windows since Vista [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_links].

P.S.: I am using 'em since Ages for similiar reasons on my systems.

Thanks Chuckster, I'll take a look at that, if that doesn't work maybe the other way. Though it sounds like I wouldn't be able to choose between my SSD or HDD easily, which is annoying.
Well it seems reinstalling gog galaxy seemed to fix the issue for me, somehow.

I found a way that works if you are installing a new game. When it asks for the install path you can change it there and it appears to be a global setting for all future downloads.

For your already installed games they can just be moved and then get Galaxy to re-scan for them or manually tell it where they are.
For anyone having this issue, exit Galaxy then open your favorite text editor (N++, Notepad, etc.) as an administrator and edit the following file:
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\config.json

Change the "libraryPath" value to your desired path (be sure to escape backslash characters) then save. When you reopen Galaxy your default library folder should be updated.

As far as I know, there isn't a bug on this.

Chuckster guy/girl already gave the solution.

Case closed.

That's the definitive answer to this thread.
