If you were bunkered down surrounded by zombies (the fast moving 28 Days Later variety at that), what is the single most important object to carry with you - you can only chose one thing for protection/comfort/etc... what is it? For example, I'd grab a shovel - useful as a blunt weapon, mobility tool (brace for climbing, etc), and inspirational/cool symbolism (reburying the dead).

Also, for bonus point please recommend any zombie movie. I'll suggest Outpost: Black Sun (a surprisingly compelling nazi zombie horror thriller) and Cemetery Man is a gory headtrip.

I'll give away a copy of the epic Zafehouse Diaries on GOG to one person who responds and states "I'm in," please only enter if you'll enjoy playing Zafehouse Diaries sometime soon. Giveaway entries that include material from the two questions above will be given priority, you may enter for others.

Im in!

So I think a badass Samurai sword would be my object. Guns eventually run out of ammo, and a good sword will do nicely in tight spaces...although hordes might present a problem.

Technically a zombie movie, I really enjoyed Shaun of the Dead. A great parody and well thought out.

In for RWarehall

I would probably want a mace (old fashioned with spikes). Since the zombies are rotted flesh and bone you would want something that could deal a load of blunt force trauma to break them up.

Please count me in for chadjenofsky. Thank you. +1. I would bring one of those shotguns with unlimited ammo that you get as a reward for beating one of the Resident Evil games. That would teach those zombies!
+1 for inventive giveaway =)

Not in.

For protection I would use either a ninja sword/samurai sword, the super sharp variety as in the Kill Bill movies. Swords don't run out of ammo, guns do and they take time to reload. ^_^

For zombie film recommendations, aside from the walking dead tv series. My all time favorite zombie movies (28 days later/28 week later), I thoroughly enjoyed the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" and another small unique cool film I saw was "The Dead".

Sorry if it was more than one. I love zombie movies.....well good ones ^_^
Shaolin Spade. And you would know, if you had read the official manual for surviving a zombie apocalypse written by Max Brooks.

P.S.The movies you are citing ARE NOT zombie movies. Whatever those things are, they are not zombies. Zombies don't run, they rot and bite and barely walk.
I agree with chadjenofsky, Shaun of the Dead is fantastic. Everyone should watch this movie.

EDIT: I'm in. This is not something I would carry around (well duh), but it's cool nonetheless.

Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm in

I would go for a spade with a sharpened for all those reasons you gave in your post.

Land of the Dead is my recommendation

In, please.
I'd like to have a "Lobo" spade/axe from Max Brooks' book World War Z.
Also Zombieland is a good fun film. Great cameo ;)

Question though, if the world were overrun by zombies, which zombiefied "celebrity" would you want to put out of its misery most?
For me, I think it'd be a Kardashian, or maybe the guy who first thought reality tv was a good idea... :P

Marmite. Slather it on like sunblock, and be safe from even the least-discerning zombie tastes.

I enjoyed The Horde, a French zombie film. It's unforgettable if only for one scene where the Nigerian lead flips out on a zombie.

Not in, thank you.
not in but for zombie movie recommendations id recommend, Zombie Strippers! its the ultimate zombie trash movie, but its so bad its already good again :D
I'm in, thanks!

I would take a machete. It is a great weapon (who doesn't want to slice some zombies? Well, not in real life :s), and it also serves as a tool when you need to cut something other than zombies.

As someone said before, I also like the remake of "Dawn of the Dead". If you haven't seen it and you like zombie movies, go ahead and watch it. You'll be surprised!

I'm in. I'd prefer a gun over a melee weapon since those will get stuck in the zombies sooner or later.

Here's something with zombies in it ;-)
