maybe we do have hope of seeing id on gog.com. depends on id's existing agreements with activision and ea.
Coming soon... EA aquires zenimax media.

Next Microsoft buys EA and all future EA titles are XO/Windows 7 exlusives forcing players to upgrade to Windows 7 and/or use XO.
Zenimax is a private company, and they don't act like they're looking to sell.
i realluy don't think we should worry about this affecting id business model after doom id has more focused on building better game tech over game stories. tom hall was the guy behind the plots of the early id stuff he left when they decided to drop the plot lines for simpler games. apogee after wolf 3d tried for more complex games even taking in tom hall to write the plots for Rott and DN2. he even wrote the first treatment for prey. right now carmack is intrigued with the iphone sdk and porting his way from wolf 3d-doom-quake. heck he even made quake 3 run as a browser plug in. and since fallout is sold here id's new god dwill let gog.com have its back titles. but we would get another version of wolf3d 1.4 with the gog.com logo in place of the apogee logo unless they can be convinced to let the new apogee handle the sales of the game.

The DOOMs would be a massive step forward, but its such a classic and valuable IP, I don't know if it will ever be allowed out :S

Not really, because id was private, but they were looking to sell in order to grow the studio.
