Anyone else seen this?
Quite frankly its goddamn awesome and I hope YouTube keep it after April Fools is over.
If you havent seen it change the resolution setting for a video, it should have a TEXTp function.
indeed.
YouTube won't even load for me right now. All I get is "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable". If that's what you mean by text only mode, I'm not thrilled ;-)
Curiously enough, I can still open direct links to YouTube videos and watch them (and personally I think the new interface sucks), but any attempt to access my profile is met with the same error as above.

Well, it's back now, and either I'm just a moron, or they removed the feature again. At least I can't find it anywhere.
Whoa, ASCII porn!
I wish the shitty new video player was an April Fool's joke.
Well, even if I can't see the ACTUAL April fool's joke (other than the blog post), at least this works.
Please tell me YT's new look is an April Fools joke as well?
April Fools day or not, it's a rather nifty feature. I also hope they keep it.
If you use mplayer to watch videos (in Linux) you can set output to text, colour text etc.
In fact I think there is library called libaaca or something

. It's the same library used for [url=http://webpages.mr.net/bobz/ttyquake/]Text Mode Quake.

from their blog:
You can also append &textp=fool to most video URLs to test it out.
For every person who selects TEXTp and keeps it on while you watch a video, you save YouTube $1 a second, resulting in potentially billions of dollars of savings for us. So if you care about YouTube, you’ll use TEXTp today.

So it is a nice April fools feature ;)
